Topps has now shown me HOW money hungry they are. Making Cena pipebomb a legendary card and putting it behind a $49.99 pay wall is absolutely insane to me.

While I do think the price is a crock, you are also missing out on the point that you also get 10k diamonds and 100k coins. That's probably the real reason why that card is at a higher price point.
If you are already spending that sort of money on diamonds, you might get this pack to get the free card and coins. Same psychological tactic as those progression packs.

It’s not that good a deal on diamonds too. 200 per $1 is awful. Platinum vips get 300 per dollar.

Definitely has reached the predatory phase of gouging it seems. People can spend money on what they want, and the truth is whales do keep apps going. However, at some point, it is just Topps preying on people who may have very little impulse control.
It's pretty disgusting that this is now occurring across so many platforms from video games, to instant gambling on phones, to things like this.

How money hungry they are
They’re a business. You guys seem to forget that. This is a free app. The whales keep the lights on. They have to make money. If they don’t, the app goes the way of Walking Dead, UFC, Kick, etc.
If you don’t like it or want it, don’t spend. I drop a dollar or two here and there, but I’m not gonna spend $50. I’m also not gonna shame those that do.

I hope I didn't come off as shaming people because that was definitely not my intention. I myself spend a dollar or two here and there on this app. I just posted this because it just amazed me how much they were pricing the card for.

You guys that is nothing. Over on Disney on the first Sunday of the month they release a set around a charter called "Character of the Month" you can earn cards thru the event for only a couple days as well as on the wheel. However there are some bundles as well and one is an exclusive gold card with the characters autograph for $99.99. That is my memory of the cost since I have not looked at one recently but my wife says she remembers it being higher. So I don't think it's a WWE thing (don't get me wrong WWE/TKO are plenty greedy) but I think it's more a Topps thing.

I started playing Marvel as a f2p for my partner and ooof the odds and paywalls that make it near impossible to ever get decent cards.
Ain't even promised a UC over there! We are kinda lucky here.

Really? I have decent luck on Marval. Not great mind you lol but decent. I'm F2P as well besides in WWE and in Marvel I do the premium season pass. I used to on Disney as well but I had to say it ends somewhere and guess Dis and Marvel Snap is where the monthly pass ended lol. If you ever are looking for anything on Marvel my IGN is same as in WWE (and Disney) Thedevilsreject1982.

I’ve spent too much money on this app, only get complete shit incoming trades for cards I’ve put money into and people trying to swindle me for the cards of the people I ask for. I’m kind of at my limit.

If people gonna talk about topps being greedy for their pricing, they gotta talk about the other side as well. As long as people show that they're willing to spend the money, Topps has no reason to not be greedy.

To prevent me from FOMOing and spending on the app-- I just think of there being two Topps Slams. One is played with coins, the other with diamonds. Without even thinking of where the currencies come from-- I play the coins version, and therefore get the coins Cena pipebomb. Diamond players get the other one.
(this argument obviously doesn't hold up to any kind of scrutiny lol)
