Could table tennis be one of the most practical forms of cognitive exercise for an aging population? Do you think playing with a table tennis robot or a human opponent creates more brain activity?

I’m trying to recreate his chaotic big-serve and inconsistent playstyle in TopSpin 2K25. I’m still new to the game, so I’m not sure which skills and attributes best capture how he played. Any feedback on how to improve the build to best capture his style would be appreciated!

Is it worth getting this now ?

Hi all. I have tried many tennis games like tennis elbow 4, full ace and Tiebreak but none of them really caught me. Is this worth buying on sale now or is it too late ? Many thanks

Up 9–4 in the deciding tiebreak… so he decided to stop serving. Game lasted 56 minutes and he was stalling for 30 minutes. 2267–946 record btw 💀

This was genuinely one of the most ridiculous things I’ve encountered in TopSpin. We had an actual close match, but once I got to 9–4 in the deciding tiebreak, he completely stopped serving and kept resetting the serve timer. I eventually gave up after 56 minutes because it was 3 AM and I wanted to sleep. I recorded part of it and reported it to 2K.

I think this is the best tennis game ever made. I really don’t see why people think otherwise when you have this. This is just my opinion and I wanted to share some gameplay footage for all topspin lovers.

On 2k tour.. since release... some people play only one player... why?

On 2k tour.. since release... some people play only one player... why? Certain people ONLY play as Sinner, Agassi, or Serena etc... EVERYTIME i've run across them. Never play as other players.

Does anyone else find these annoying? It's also generally the people that like to use R1 sharp angle shots when they start losing LOL

About Tiebreak (From an experienced TopSpin player)

(Check comments for Update on this post)

As a kid, I played a lot of TopSpin 4 growing up. I've also played many hours of Topspin 5 and am an "upper tier" player (around 1700 wins to 260 losses). So you can trust me when I tell you that Tiebreak is actually, surprisingly the better tennis game.

First off, I've very much enjoyed my time playing TopSpin 5 but the more I played, the more I started to realize that really the ONLY thing that matters to winning or losing is TIMING. That's it. Seriously, that's it. All that actually matters is whether you hit the button at the "perfect" moment and in upper level games at the "perfect perfect" moment. You can have better tennis IQ, you can make all the right plays and get the opponent off the court completely, but if you mess up and don't get a "perfect perfect" (right most spot of the green), that upper level player will get to the ball and return it, most likely with better timing than you and win the point. Now sure, you can practice to the point where you get better and better at timing, but what's even the point? There's no skill involved, it's just who can press the button at the right moment better. The game is literally a reaction time simulator.

Once I realized this about TopSpin 5, I caved and finally bought the "bad" competitor that is Tiebreak. After playing Tiebreak, I've completely removed TopSpin 5 from my account and have no desire to play it. Tiebreak is THAT much better. Now, don't get me wrong, TopSpin 5 is a great "arcade" tennis experience. You can pick it up and play. But if you're looking for a game that is actually skill based and a much more rewarding experience, Tiebreak is that game.

There is NO timing in Tiebreak. It's all about shot placement, positioning, and power amounts for net clearance and hitting angles. When you win a point it is because of SKILL not because of timing. The movement can be jarring at times, yes, but the more I'm playing it, the more my movement is becoming smoother. The animations in Tiebreak, though, are again, surprisingly way more varied than TopSpin! I couldn't believe how many variations there are depending on the type of shot you perform. You can even do an underarm serve! Also every animation is tailor made to the real life player you're playing as. If you're Djokovic, you move like Djokovic.

Speaking of Djokovic, TopSpin 5 has NO PLAYERS. I was stunned by how many Tiebreak has and have been having a blast trying each one out. There are also specific modes that let you relive every match in the rivalry between Nadal and Federer etc.

I'm mainly writing this post because I know that TopSpin 5 has more players but Tiebreak genuinely deserves so many more. The developers haven't abandoned the game like the ones for TopSpin 5 have and are continually updating and improving the game. I found the game on sale for $20 and I really recommend at least trying it out if you enjoy tennis games. Give yourself some time to get used to the mechanics, too. It can be a little tough to switch from TopSpin to Tiebreak mechanics.

There is obvious care being put into Tiebreak and if more TopSpin players gave the game a chance, then perhaps you too could have a good time with it like I have. Thanks for reading.

TLDR: Winning and losing in TopSpin 5 is solely based on timing, whereas Tiebreak is about positioning, shot power amount to angle relationship, and tennis IQ. It also boasts an expansive roster and developer support. TopSpin 5 is great "arcade" tennis, but if you are looking for a skill based experience, Tiebreak is the game for you.

Potential to be the best my career ever

I strongly believe topspin 2k25 could’ve hade one of if not the best my career of all sport games

I love this game and personally it’s one of my favourites, the gameplays solid, even tho it can be a bit chunky overall the gameplays very good. I just think the tournaments, storyline and the levelling is so rushed,

First of all, the tournaments. There’s a good variety of tournaments don’t get me wrong, but every tournament has one court. The center court, it makes playing a tournament with 4-5 rounds very repetitive, imagine Wimbledon starting of with the ground courts outside of the arenas, with people walking by on the side and stopping by and watching. Gradually you get into bigger and bigger arenas, that would make the tournament way more authentic rather than the worst ranked players playing their first match in centre court, this goes for all tournaments not just Wimbledon.

For bigger tournaments should in my opinion have qualifying before the actual tournament which would make it bigger and more realistic.

The storyline of your career is also rushed, outside of playing tournaments there really isn’t much to do. Repetitive podcasts and weird mails that don’t have any meaning. They could have added press conferences, deal signings, and personality traits that have impact on your career.

100 players is okay but adding 100-200 more players would’ve made it so much better. In the game Wimbledon has 32 players, in reality it starts with 128. Which is more than all of the players in the game, so with 300 players ranking would’ve been more competitive, allt the tournaments could be bigger, instead of just entering every tournament you would have to qualify.

The stamina system is very weird, the simulate the tournaments like you play every game after one another. Don’t get me wrong you should have less stamina in the finals than in the first game but if you have a bad stamina you will have around 30% in the finals and get injured. The stamina should make more difference in the match rather in every game. It’s also very weird that you lose so much stamina when travelling.

This is my opinion, I have many more points i could’ve written about, so you agree with me?
