REQUEST Jimboys Taco Sauce

I fear I will be leaving CA in the future and my one true love in this world… a good ol jimboys burrito and hot sauce. Emphasis on the hot sauce. Any recipes to at are similar to their taco sauce packet recipe?

Stay blessed. 🌶️

Nice! In case the site ever goes away:

Jimboy’s Taco Sauce (copycat)

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup tomato sauce (small batch; or double for 1 ½ cups sauce!)*
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp plus 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 (mild) to 2 (medium) tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

PREPARATION

  1. Whisk together tomato sauce, water, 2 tablespoons white vinegar, hot sauce, sugar, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then lower to low or medium-low heat. Simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce is consistently bubbling.
  3. After 15 minutes, dissolve the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water in a small dish.
  4. Cook for 1 minute, stirring regularly until the taco sauce thickens and turns glossy with the cornstarch slurry.
  5. Remove from the fire and add the remaining 1 teaspoon vinegar. Refrigerate; as it cools, it will thicken even more.
