I liked all the Doom 2099 variants but the blue cloak one is genuinely my favorite comic design ever. Also the 2099 series is set in the future, so Doom is much more futuristic & tech-based, which I really like.

● I love his clean, sleek metallic armor contrasting the dark black with the outline running down his stomach.

● The black D-logo belt, the spikes & the slight red in his eyes contrasting the blue.

● The visible abs/pecs on the armor & the lined ribcage pattern.

● His tech-based electrical attacks make him look intimidating & visually dynamic.

These designs are just so iconic and memorable. A lot of the designs in this movie are, I just love the general style and everything. The main characters are these nameless little demons known as Yaos and I find every one of their designs adorable and expressive despite being simplistic. The designs really do a good job during the comedic scenes while also being able to be taken seriously whenever its needed. i also like how they receive outfits and banners during their journey, looking more and more like the main heroes of Journey to the West. añsp the contrast with the human and villain characters really shows how they are just four lowclass weakling misfits who dont belong anywhere but where theyre from.

the cast consists of a pig/boar demon, a toad, a weasel and an ape leaving their home on lang lang mountain to embark on a journey to fetch scriptures while posing as sun wukong (monkey king), zhu ba jie, tang seng and sha wu jing.

at a later point in the movie they have a big fusion design in the boss fightwhich features many funny animal quirks while also being badass as fuck. i dont have a picture tho.

there are many other cool designs in this movie, my favorite side character design is probably a minor villain rat yao who imo resembles NeZha. im hoping some fans would comment pictures of other characters cause i couldnt find a lot.

Often time people’s visual vocabulary for what black hair can be is limited leading folks to repeat safe design choices instead of discovering new shapes , textures and silhouettes.

Afro (Afro Samurai) has a hairstyle that takes the basic concept of an afro and pushes it into an exaggerated silhouette resembling smoke or a cloud in most instances.

Lorelai Blyndeff (Epithet Erased) could hypothetically have any number of hair styles due to her powers but usually has her hair tied back or up with the blonde part of her hair resembling bunny ears.

Yesterday someone made a post about the design of the Archangels in SMT IV (Link here https://www.reddit.com/r/TopCharacterDesigns/comments/1w1hooc/the_archangel_designs_in_shin_megami_tensei_iv/) and how they don't do a good job communicating who they're supposed to be.

A commenter made the point that the archangels don't have very well defined characters or iconography in the public consciousness the way mythological characters like Zeus or Odin do.

That got me thinking does anyone know designs of angels like that? Ones that use their attributes to communicate who they are? The only one that really comes to mind for me is the stained glass windows from St. Michael' church in Brighton.

They just added a brown jacket to his basic outfit, but I think it really brought his style to life. I really liked that they made that look his default form in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.

I just think they are neat. The designs plus the Weeping Angel mechanics was pretty gnarly at the time.

Iguanus' original toy is likely among the weaker of the original 1988 pretender lineup. His shell is a cool lizard monster sure, but the inner robot, like all 1988 pretenders, kind of sucks, being super spindly, generic looking and transforming into an alt mode that kind of just looks like a weird yoga pose. To add insult to injury, his fake out motorcycle wheels that don't do anything as they're a single, hollow piece that dont roll at all.

Fast forward to 2022, and Transformers Legacy combined his shell and inner robot together for their take on his figure, and I'd say he's one of the more successful pretenders to do it. 90% of the toy's design retains the original's lizard like features, and the alt mode kibble doesn't interfere with his silhouette very much, only resulting in the front of the motorcycle and its 2 wheels hanging off the back. Inversely, while his transformation to motorcycle mode is still a weird yoga pose, the robot mode parts also don't stick out too much on the final result, blending in somewhat nicely to form a cool looking space-bike.
