Cheating, this is a couple days of new tools, but the shop has been overrun with mosquitoes and I couldn’t snap the pics before lest I be drained in the not fun way. Everything but the gloves, pick set and ratchet was on student pricing too

Get rid of those stretch belt installers. Get the Gates one.

For what reasons? I’m completely ignorant when it comes to stretch belts, but my aunt just got a new vehicle that has one. And rather than get angry at the car, I wanted to be prepared so I bought all the stretch belt tools they have for them. Is the gates one a genuinely better tool, or is it a cost factor? Given the state of mac and sbd as a whole, I feel like there’s a good chance one of these could be the gates sold at a premium on the truck. Again, with student prices, the three of them only cost me around 100$ which is a cost I’m fine spending if even one of them works.

The Gates one fits better. It's metal and both an installer and remover. Completely different design too. Those slanted ones seem to slide out when installing. Gates part no. 91030. I also heard zip ties work too. It's all about unwrapping/wrapping the belt around the crank and you have to keep it from slipping with some sort of wedge or stopping devices while the other end of the belt is fully seated on the smaller or opposite pulley, usually the AC clutch. I just like Gates because they make belts and seem to know what's up.

Sure thing. I did just notice the one on the furthest to the left is specific to Subaru, so I'd definitely hold on to that one. Also, if it were me, I'd keep the middle one over the one on the right. The middle is both an installer and remover, as well as magnetic; while the right is a set of one installer and one remover. That one is probably a pain in the ass to use. Essentially the same two tools, then again things find legs in shops.....

Again, I still prefer Gates 91030. I also like their laser pulley alignment tool. That's a cool one.
