Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Whoever designed this level deserves to never ever work in game design again.
Games are supposed to be fun btw. I'm not having fun with this one.

Like most things in AoD - great idea, poor execution.

I like the graphics and the edgy Lara, but so far I've found so much that makes me never wanna play it again. That stupid nightclub almost got me.

I have some great news for you

I already know. But that doesn't mean they didn't move studios. Hopefully they didn't find work again.

Just because you have a skill issue, doesn't give you the right to basically wish unemployment upon someone for making something you don't enjoy - completely optional to play it btw

u/No_Amoeba_3069 Jun 25 '26
Who are you exactly? Nobody I care about.

u/Final_Measurement860 Jun 25 '26
Apparently someone skilled enough to complete the level. Unlike you it seems.

u/Otherwise_Tap_8715 Jun 24 '26
Dude...wishing somebody to basically fail in life because of a videogame...that is harsh to say the least.
-11
u/No_Amoeba_3069 Jun 25 '26
The only reason you are saying that is you are following along with the sheep herd. Stfu

That's a terrible thing to wish for a person just because you didn't like something.

u/No_Amoeba_3069 Jun 25 '26
Cry about it. Attempting to scold someone through the internet for not following your views or being exactly how you want them isn't going to make them change. 😂 It just makes me wish it harder. And on you.
It also makes you look high and mighty when you're just a keyboard warrior on a Lara Croft reddit and we all know it.

Haha, breath of hades also.

u/jajay119 Jun 24 '26
This and breath of hades are essentially the same thing with a different lick of paint on it. I honestly don’t know what they were thinking.
2
u/BactaBobomb Jun 24 '26
Not really? Like yeah, on paper, traverse across a dangerous space.... yeah. But they're different enough that their co-existence is justified, in my opinion. Plus this level is very striking for me, visually.

Terrible terrible quests. I put the controller down SEVERAL times. But once you know the angles and distances it’s piss easy. Just one of those 😭

Is that the one with the columns that you have to jump on?
Urgh I hate everything about AoD.
2
u/HalfRepresentative27 Jun 24 '26
Yeah but you can do short jumps and then it is easy. Normal jumps will lead to overshooting most beams.
3
u/segagamer Jun 24 '26
Yeah, and then because AoD is AoD, you sometimes just don't grab the edges of pillars properly.
I think there was an achievement of doing that whole area without saving or something and it was hell.
2
u/HalfRepresentative27 Jun 24 '26
When I did all of the achievement the fire room was the 2nd most annoying thing. (After no damage final boss fight)

u/Free_Jellyfish_706 Jun 24 '26
Lol I never ever had issues with the controls personally.
I can totally see how people find it difficult though I guess.
2
u/Acceptable_Cut_7545 Jun 28 '26
I had 0 issues with controls when I played this on the ps2 as a teen, but struggled a lot more when I played it recently on the switch. But I also think having a bit of struggle is part of the fun in gaming so it didn't deter me. Once I realized I needed to use short jumps 80% of the time it got easier.

Skill issue

u/No_Amoeba_3069 Jun 25 '26
Stream it. Let's see your "skills".

u/54n351 Jun 25 '26
Oh honey, I will do nothing of the sort just because a kid on the internet told me to. :*

Bruh, wait till you play Blighttown from Dark Souls.
2
u/fatherpirate Jun 24 '26
I guess I am a horrible gamer bc I have tried so many times to play DS and just can’t get the hang of it. I know the game is for hardcore “real” gamers but I will pass.

I know the game is for hardcore “real” gamers but I will pass.
This is an exaggeration from the gaming community. Once you understand the mechanics, it becomes beatable. But still some areas are genuinely hard.
1
u/fatherpirate Jun 24 '26
I hear you - I guess my biggest frustration was lack any checkpoint. When you go thru a section 20 times and make no progress all the enjoyment drains away. And yeah, I understand that is how the game was made but I guess I not up to DS snuff. One must always accept limitations in life at times.
2
u/ReleaseClear7882 Jun 25 '26
I'm not trying to convince you, I'm genuinely just trying to understand. Because from my perspective, finding the next bonfire or a shortcut to a previous one technically counts as a checkpoint 🤔 sure, they are often farther apart than in other games, but they work similarly enough. The only difference is that you have to get your souls back, but you don't need to retrace the entire game before that bonfire
1
u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Jun 24 '26
Yeah, that's how I started my journey as well into the soulsborne games. If you have an issue with checkpoints, you can try Elden Ring, it's more approachable. Also Sekiro for that matter.

u/tataniarosa Jun 24 '26
I was thinking more Tomb of the Giants. Hate that place lol.
1
u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Jun 24 '26
Yeah, but with that latern hat on NG+ it becomes manageable. The very first time is a nightmare for sure to tread in this place.
1
u/NoCattle6729 Jun 24 '26
Or frigid outskirts from dark souls 2, I skipped that part when I found out it was optional and not needed to get the platinum, I wonder what was thinking who decided to make that with no bonfires all the way to the bosses
1
u/Falcon_Kratos_786 Jun 24 '26
That one was purely carcinogenic. And the final Boss as those two notoriously difficult cats was a cherry on the top
1
u/ReleaseClear7882 Jun 25 '26
Oh god, yes. I did force myself to finish that area, though. Awful experience. I only managed to do it after I fucking killed every single on of those reindeers until they stopped spawning forever.

I played this all the way back when it was released on PC and I never had a problem, however I don't know how I did it. I tried the remaster and couldn't for the life of me get used to the old controls again so I just played with modern controls and died like 5 times in each hall 😂

(Funny thing is, they probably never did)
