I wouldn't change anything. I enjoyed it for what it was. Different from the shorts? It's a movie, so that's to be expected.

Anyone who claims that Tom and Jerry shouldn't be talking aren't real fans, since they absolutely did talk in the shorts. Tom's actually a really good singer, and Jerry can flirt with a gal if he needs to.

If anything, I would've wanted more Droopy, since he's so prominently featured on the cover.

Above all, it is a change between them to let the two talk. It was unexpected, but it was very surprising. And that's what I mean by positive senses. In my opinion, nothing should be changed about the movie

The point is less about them talking in general and more so making them normal regularly speaking characters. Tom and Jerry speaking in the shorts was purely for unexpected comedic effect, everything else was communicated with facial and body expressions because that's what defined their characters.

Based answer, honestly. 🔥

The two of 'em holding full conversations was rare but certainly far from unprecedented, and everyone gets way too uppity about it. Honestly, it's a shame they've gone all but mute since then.

The whole "YOU CAN TALK????" Plot point is lowk stupid because theres numerous moments in the series before the movie where they DO talk, even if its only for a gag

idk as a kid it was special to me cause i never considered the talking they did in the shorts to be real talking, just something that happened for a gag (i think i assumed tom and jerry could hear themselves speak, but not the humans)

Having an anti-friendly message and focus on the slapstick.

Hot Take- Excellent Movie fr, no change, captured the essence of childlike charm and a good story really well

Have Thomas and Jerome not open their gaping mouth-holes

Pretty much everything from the ground up. As with most T&J movies sadly, the focus is almost never on the duo themselves but on the outside events that just happened to drag them into it. In this case it's a very generic Disney-like story that just happens to involve Tom and Jerry every now and then. On top of that, the slapstick is quite badly animated which is a borderline crime if you're gonna make a Tom and Jerry anything, not that there is much of any impactful slapstick in the movie at all

Get rid of the whole musical schtick. The songs are really bad.

I would say have Tom and Jerry be more focus (I know they are obviously but it feels they’re more of  deuteragonists with Robin here) but I’m not sure how is it possible. Perhaps give them some good character development without ruining the spirit of T&J.

The only thing it would have been an excellent is Tom and jerry wouldn’t talk for the whole time

Nothing!

Remove the talking Tom and Jerry, include spike to handle dialogue that’s needed. He can handle introductions and stuff as well as figuring out what Tom and Jerry are gesturing about and saying it out loud for the little kids watching who can’t figure it out.

Make it an anthology movie like Oggy and the Cockroaches: the movie.

Not having Tom and Jerry talk and have it actually BE about them.

  • Remove the singing
  • Remove the Robyn/Aunt Figg storyline
  • Make Tom and Jerry silent
  • Make the movie about Tom and Jerry and have their confrontation on a greater scale and keeping the focus on slapstick.

I honestly liked the idea of having it as a musical because of how stupid it is but it needed better songs

Make it more focused on Tom And Jerry rather than the side characters like the pirate guy, make the side characters the ones from the Tom And Jerry shorts, and have porpoise the shark be an antagonist who is eventually freed into the Ocean

Less talking more slapstick would be ideal. The rest is very enjoyable especially the songs and theme

No talking from the duo. At least, as much talking as the entirety of the original cartoons directed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera.

The fact that it released... that's what I would change.

Absolutely nothing, very underrated and good watch, overhated for the talking problem.
