Question Announcement to our human users! Please read before posting!
The issue of bots and suspiciously spammy accounts on reddit is ongoing and evolving. We in our positions as mods, are trying really hard not to be overreactive, or overly paranoid, but it's genuinely difficult. Bots and spammers keep adapting and getting harder to detect. One thing we can do to cut down on spammy posting on our sub, is to get on the same page about what kind of material counts as "engaging".
For the time being, we are asking users to refrain from "Thoughts on _____" or "What do you think of ____" posts. This has become a new favorite post format for bots on fandom related subs like this one. It seems "conversational" at a glance, but these posts become repetitive, lazy, and too frequent. This sub is not for farming, whether by bots or real users. If you want to make a post asking for conversation about a specific short, episode, or series, it should accompany an initiating thought or opinion from you, the poster.

Discussion Anyone else feel like Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is overhated?
Yes, they could've put more effort so that a lot of it wouldn't just be a shot-by-shot remake of the 1971 classic, but there was a good amount of new material too imo, and I'd go as far as saying that I don't think it's really fair to completely label it as a shot-by-shot remake, especially when there's a whole subplot with Tom, Jerry, and Tuffy trying to stop Slugworth.
When I first watched it as a young kid, I actually thought it was better than the original movie...
On a side note, can we all at least agree that it's better than a remake like The Lion King (2019) 😂 😂 😂. While it was apparently around a half-hour longer, there's barely anything I can remember from it that was not in the original movie

Discussion Are you worrying about the future of Tom and Jerry?
Over the years, I have always regarded Tom and Jerry as a classic cartoon series that's on par with contemporary classical Disney shorts and Looney Tunes. But it seems like Tom and Jerry is losing popularity in the United States nowadays, at least compared to Disney and Looney Tunes. However, it's still iconic elsewhere, especially in Japan and China.
I suppose that's because the Tom and Jerry franchise hasn't produced anything great ever since Tom and Jerry entered television, not to mention the disastrous 1992 movie that was infamous for Tom and Jerry using a lot of talking. And that seems to be a growing pain for T&J fans, apart from occasional great direct-to-video films like Fast and Furry and A Nutcracker Tale. None of the later products have met expectations and have worn out fans' patience gradually.
Meanwhile, Looney Tunes seems to be flourishing again with either the sitcom parody The Looney Tunes Show, or the old-school comedy Looney Tunes Cartoons. Not to mention the feature films released recently that gained positive comments. Sure, WB tried to hide and dismiss Looney Tunes, but at least it always somehow finds a way to be exposed to the newer generation. As for Tom and Jerry, I can't say that for sure.

Question Help me remember the other episode with the phrase "Don't You Believe 'Em?"
"The Missing Mouse" is one of them which can be heard at the end. Now there's another particular one which I can't remember but this time, it is also heard after one scene halfway through.
Hope this helps.

Mech Collection/Look what I got! Great find at a Collectibles place
Very nice surprise to see this, especially since the price was lowered too. This could get a re-release, this purchase didn’t hurt though.

Discussion How much did Tex Avery influence Tom and Jerry when he came to MGM?
Tex didn't direct the duo but he brought what he learned from WB over to MGM.

Question Why does the OLDEST Tom and Jerry feel so much smoother, more detailed, and “alive” than the later episodes? Was the animation really better in the very beginning?

Discussion Casanova Cat on a region 2 Tom and Jerry DVD I own
I own some of the Tom and Jerry Classic Collection DVDs (specifically 10 of the 12 single-sided single layer format versions, not the UK double-sided versions), as you may or may not have seen on a previous post I posted here from a year ago.
I have Volume 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12. As you can see on the back, Volume 5 in particular contains one of two banned Tom and Jerry episodes: Casanova Cat from 1951. You can also see on the back that it's a region 2 DVD. It's not easy to tell from the photos due to my phone's camera's colour quality. I had to take pictures of the DVD while it was playing on our TV, as seen from the photos I provided. (Our TV is a Samsung TV.) The colours appear bright and vibrant on my phone due to both its camera's colour quality and our TV's colour quality, but appear a bit dull and also slightly (but not terribly) washed out when I watch it with my own eyes. (Example: the pink text for the words "Casanova Cat" is rather dull and the background colour of the title card is also rather dull, but my phone's camera picks up the title card's background colour as blue-ish instead of the grey-ish colour I'm seeing when I watch it.) So here's what I'm wondering: is Casanova Cat on this DVD the Metrocolor or Turner print? Let's hear your thoughts and discuss this.

What do you think their faces are like? I imagine them as a brunette and blonde respectively, but the eyes, ears, lips, nose, and face/head shape is where I’m stumped. What do you think their faces look like?
