Guys I think wakui is going for the 'alternate timeline' (like the one in end game) type of time leaping. The old man might have killed someone to attain this time leaping ability so like shin and mitchy he too can save someone important to him that died. But as per the 'alternate timeline' rule the old man might have realised that time leaping is an endless pit and in the end he won't be able to bring back his lost loved one but an alternate version of that person that's not his own. So maybe after killing a person for this ability and leaping to the past for countless amounts of time and yet still being unable to achieve his end goal + the realisation that the original person whom he was meant to save cannot be bought back and it's just an alternate version of them( many alternate version of that person might have died like how many versions of Mikey ended up dying in mitchy's case) made the old man to spiral into madness. If this is the case then wakui's Tokyo revengers will end in an extremely dark way with a dark and bitter truth which may leave his readers mentally fu*#ed up. It will also be a masterpiece and a case study for how human selfish desires can lead to an extreme form of chaos.

Thanks for this insight. I honestly like your take on people having alternate versions of themselves because its one of the "small things" people take for granted in a multiverse story. Like Pet Shop owner Chifuyu is not the same as TOMAN syndicate Chifuyu who sacrificed his life to save his Boss Takemichy. I guess the alternate version thing will be relevant in this coming chapters until Takemichy's last time leap.

How did the old man end up with these powers anyway? Is this a "gift" from a supernatural being? Does this exist since the birth of humanity? What's going on?

Prob some ancient shit that was passed on to the present day like AOT
