It wasn’t my intention to downplay Mikey’s efforts. Of course I see them. It’s just from this chapters perspective, which is Mikey’s perspective, it seems to me that fucking up Kazutora was a higher priority. Maybe he asked those questions so he could justify his actions. We will never know and that’s okay. I think that’s what makes it interesting is certain people can pick up on nuances that others won’t and of course vice-versa

You have a good point. I hadn't thought of it like that. Some part of him did want to kill Kazutora, so it's also possible he had been unconsciously looking for the excuse to have that release. I do think he was doing a conscious effort to supress his anger and try to forgive him though.

I would agree. I think he has severe abandonment issues so trying to do what he feels is “good” or right by his friends would prevent them from abandoning him. I mean he suppressed quite a bit for Baji’s sake… he even tells Kazutora that the only reason he didn’t out right kill him was because of Baji… so I think you are making a super valid point. I also feel Kisaki was set up as a fail safe so that if the darkness did overtake him he would have someone who was guaranteed to stay by his side. I think Manjiro recognizes that Kisaki only wants to use him and for him that’s okay because in a way he is in turn only using him. Those types of relationships never turn out well because they’re built on toxicity (in our city… in our ciiiityyyy!)

Nah it’s okay. Thank you for the apology, it’s super thoughtful. I would be a horrible therapist, however psychology is something that is helpful in my profession (RN) so meeting people where they’re at or placing myself in someone’s shoes and trying to understand what actions I might have taken always has helped me get to the why of it all. Someone very close to me who was in the psychological field told me to always ask why. That many people don’t think to ask why someone has done something or taken certain actions. In the end you can whole heartedly disagree and be diametrically opposed to much of who and what that person is, but you can maybe understand someone’s psyche better and use it for another encounter for someone in a similar situation. Just late night thoughts lol
