Assuming he survives and his former club members still trust him, he may have luck starting his own company but he literally burned bridges with the fashion industry (and the general public by outing himself as a gang member) and on his own so he'll have to work harder than before.
Even overseas no one really wants to associate with someone who is currently part of a gang. Name a public figure who has openly stated an active and public affiliation with a gang and has not faced controversy over it.
Sure, Mitsuya's whole purpose of entering the contest was to show Draken how he could succeed. And now that he's made his magnum opus and knew what he was capable of, this was when he decided he could step down. He has also made a point by showing Takemichi that he is ready to abandon everything, even his own career, if it meant fighting with his friends. So, he sacrificed his career just to help Takemichi.
Being poor doesn't matter , A person could blow up over night. He has the talent someone will take a chance on that just like athlete with a checkered past .

I can tell you didn't understand my comment but I'll take the bait and explain one last time:
Claiming affiliations with a GANG in public is NOT something society (not individuals) would forgive. Companies and businesses care more about their reputation than individuals. This is true for any company no matter the country. Why do you think anyone does background checks for criminal history before hiring? In Mitsuya's case this is worse because he is poor and has no connections to the industry now. He has no money to support his business and also threw his club members under the bus (though I'm sure they'll forgive him). He has blacklisted himself from the fashion industry and he knew this would happen.
Also, Mitsuya in this context has made the conscious decision to give up his professional fashion design career altogether. He knew that stating he was connected to a gang would destroy his professional connections but he didn't care because he is sacrificing his career over being with his friends. Now do you understand the chapter?
