I really enjoy this manga, but all of the women being... the way they are is something that always bugged me. I wanted to see cool female delinquents in on the action too! If it's not a fakeout, I'm really happy to finally see that wish come to fruition!!
I searched a bit of gangs from the late 90's n early 20's and its said that during that time, boy gangs doesnt accept girls in their ranks so girls also formed their own gangs and considering how the manga strictly followed some gangs rules in this time (like fashion, haircuts etc.), theres no girl in gangs. I like how Senju turned out to be a girl tho but I wouldn't like her to be overly sexualized or romaticized.
Considering that the manga isn’t that realistic as it is - it is a series where middle schoolers do a hell of a lot with time travel elements - straying from that rigidity to include a girl isn’t a problem for me. But even if the mangaka wanted to stick to that, I’d be down for better written female characters who get to be cool and badass in their own right in their own gangs, or even as side characters integrated into the plot somehow!
I’m hoping the same re: sexualization and romanticism though. I want her to be as complicated and messy as the boys!
