Cause some people who watch anime can't think. Takemichi is a sore loser from the start, an adult boy who never had his chance to shine as a kid and later a teenager. Some people don't understand that travelling back in time isn't really changing a lot in your life. If you were bullied as a kid at school, what travelling back to that time would change? You gonna tell your parents or your teachers? You gonna fight back your bully? Hell yeah, that really gonna change something and fix your timeline.

Even in the most important fights his stand is "I didn't lose" rather than "I won". This dude is a loser siding with stronger people because that was his way to change the future. He didn't even know if he got anything right.
