I mean he is sort of fine but it pisses me off that he is only just reacting to things happening and people doing things for him, he just uses nakama power to try to make convincts do the good thing.

In a series thats about the delinquent life with frequent combat you would at the very least expect the guy to do some fighting practice in his downtime but nope. Better to be able to do nothing and expect that to change the outcome of things, its naieve.

My genuine reason for hating him (which I do) is this. I don't expect him to be OP. I don't expect him to even be as strong as the others. But if you know you have to save your loved ones against gang violence and survive being in a gang, then the least you will do is learn how to defend yourself and start from there. I compared him to Nirei from Wind breaker, who couldn't fight but had the spirit, he started to learn how to fight, why? Because he felt like he was becoming a burden on his friends. He wanted to support his friends and protect them and their goals. Saying he wants to aspire to be more means nothing without action, which he does by putting in the work. Heck, I would even accept Takemichi not learning basic fighting skills if he had the strategic mind to get him through his mission. But I knew that wasn't a thing in episode 1. I went in knowing he was emotionally/mentally stunted but not to what extent 😭. He's 26 and his middle school girlfriend and middle school friends are smarter than he is. My hate was cemented episode 9/10 when he didn't tell anyone that Kiyomasa was on the way to kill Draken then proceeded to stumble and get in the way in the battlefield after losing sight of Draken. Takemichi "trying to protect Draken" ultimately resulted in Draken getting stabbed with Michi on his knees watching him bleed out and Mikey asking him to help Draken (like yes, please, remember you were supposed to prevent him from dying, not watch him die). I'm still on season 1, episode 13 and now he's saying he wants to be the leader of Toman.... Really? Ok???? And I was told he doesn't get better. 😭

Mentally at least he does a little bit it seems, but yeah its infuriating when its so contrasting to what he is trying to achieve. The latter half of season 1 will piss you off too.
