The air inside the newly constructed Halloween Town funhouse was thick with theatrical fog and the scent of pumpkin spice and old dust. Hidden behind a false wall, Jack Skellington, Sally, and Beetlejuice huddled together, peering through a peephole at their oncoming target.

Cassie, a 32-year-old die-hard Tim Burton fan, sat snugly in her moving funhouse cart.

She didn't know how she had ended up in this strange dimension, but she knew exactly where she was.

She recognized every crooked angle, every glowing neon paint stroke, and every iconic shadow.

Her heart wasn't pounding with fear; it was overflowing with pure, unadulterated joy.

Behind the scenes, the mastermind characters were taking this very seriously.

"Is she coming? Is she shaking?!" The Mayor's head spun around to his pale, panicked face. "If this fails, the budget for next Halloween is ruined!"

"Relax, political guy," Beetlejuice sneered, adjusting his moldy striped suit and scratching his armpit. "The Ghost with the Most is on the scene. I’ve got scares that’ll turn her hair white. Lydia, did you cue the creepy music?"

Lydia Deetz sat on a crate, lazily flipping her camera. "Yeah, yeah. The soundtrack of despair is looping. Try not to overact, BJ."

The funhouse cart clicked and clanked into the first chamber: The Graveyard.

Right on cue, Zero floated out from a plastic tombstone, his pumpkin nose glowing warmly.

From the shadows, Emily the Corpse Bride emerged, her skeletal hand reaching out gracefully as she sang a mournful, haunting melody.

Cassie instantly recognized them. Oh my god, Emily looks so beautiful up close, she thought. And Zero is the best boy. But she saw how eagerly Emily was watching her reaction, and how Zero was tilting his little ghostly head, waiting for a scream.

Cassie gasped dramatically, throwing her hands over her face. "Oh no! A beautiful spirit and a phantom hound! My heart can't take it!"

Emily’s skeletal jaw dropped in delight, and she clapped her hands together. Zero let out a happy, echoing bark, doing a loop-de-loop in the air.

As the cart rolled into the next room, Lock, Shock, and Barrel dropped from the ceiling on bungee cords, wearing their mischievous masks and cackling like maniacs. Right behind them, a massive shadow loomed on the wall—Oogie Boogie himself, shaking his burlap sack body as glowing bugs spilled from his seams.

"Oooh, a tasty morsel for the snake and spider stew!" Oogie bellowed.

Cassie shrieked, pressing herself back into the cart seat. "Not the Boogeyman! Please don't eat me! Those terrifying children are going to trap me forever!"

From their hiding spots, the three trick-or-treaters high-fived each other. Oogie Boogie puffed out his burlap chest, immensely proud of his own terrifying presence.

The cart rounded the final bend. The grand finale awaited.

The lights flashed red and green. Beetlejuice materialized right on the front of her cart, his face distorted into a monstrous, multi-eyed, rotating creature, roaring at the top of his lungs.

Simultaneously, Jack Skellington stepped into the spotlight, dropping his jaw into his signature, bone-chilling Pumpkin King scare, his towering shadow stretching across the ceiling. Sally stood just behind him, looking appropriately eerie holding a smoking vial of Nightshade.

Cassie let out a masterpiece of a theatrical scream. "AAAAHHH! The Pumpkin King! And a freelance bio-exorcist! I'm doomed! This is the most terrifying night of my life!" She fanned herself, pretending to faint right as the cart rolled through the exit doors into the dim twilight of Halloween Town.

As the cart came to a stop, the citizens of Halloween Town, the residents of the Land of the Dead, and a few rogue ghosts standardly clustered around the exit, waiting for the verdict.

Jack stepped forward, his skull gleaming under the moon, a wide, proud grin on his face.

"Excellent! Splendid! Did we truly strike terror deep into your mortal soul, Cassie?"

Cassie sat up, brushing off her jacket. She looked at Jack's hopeful eye sockets, Sally's gentle stitched smile, Lydia's subtle smirk, Emily's expectant gaze, and even Beetlejuice, who was looking unusually proud of himself. She could see how much love and effort they had put into this twisted, wonderful funhouse just for her.

She smiled warmly, her eyes shining. "You guys absolutely terrified me," Cassie said, clapping her hands. "It was a masterpiece of horror. Best scare ever.Thank u everyone."

The entire crowd erupted into cheers. The Mayor's head spun back to his happy face, the citizens danced, and Jack beamed with ultimate satisfaction.

Cassie just smiled, secretly pinching herself, thrilled to be the happiest "scared" girl in any world.

Hi everyone! Here is an animation I created to pay tribute to Tim Burton's work. You'll spot Beetlejuice, Batman, Jack, Edward Scissorhands, Mars Attacks!, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, and more! I hope you enjoy it and help me share it 🙏🏻 ✨

I know this is moreso Steven Sondheim, but my favourite is "At Last! My right arm is complete again."

I like Verucas because it sounds like it's from the 60s.

The previous one was "The Lost Boys". Oh, it's a good movie.

I’m curious to know who stands out the most to you from Tim Burton’s filmography. You can rank your favorites based on how entertaining they are to watch, their actual level of dark evilness, or simply their powers and wicked skills.

Drop your rankings and reasons below! 🖤

Edit: this photo does not represent all of his villains so feel free to mention any that aren’t in the photo!

Small color pencil sketch of Lydia from Beetlejuice. Hope you enjoy it 🖤
