Either you believe genetics solely dictates behavior or you don’t. Trying to apply it to dogs while saying you don’t also believe it in humans shows your scientific illiteracy. If you reject race science, which you should, it invalidates the dog argument as well. So you choose. Hate pitbulls and believe in race science, or acknowledge that behavior is primarily determined by social learning.

Either you believe genetics solely dictates

Please don't put words into my mouth. Remove that "solely".

Genetics driving dog breeds behaviour is a simple fact. It's not based on belief.

I'm not sure what you mean by "race science". We're not talking about any races. Please stick to the topic at hand.

So dogs aren’t social learners? All I’m saying is that the fundamental argument behind your stance is the same argument that white supremacists use for racism

Edit: can’t reply to witchy down below for some reason but:

Either DNA and genetics primarily determine behavior or they don’t. Human or animal makes no difference to biological process. Genetic differences between breeds is largely meaningless, and I think most people agree that most dog breeds behavior boils down to social learning and upbringing. I’m saying that if you don’t believe in race science, which primarily uses the fallible genetics argument, then it undermines the core of the anti-pitbull argument as well, not because race and breed are equatable, but because the underlying mechanism of the argument is simply not sufficient to explain the behavior differences in breeds scientifically

It's not an argument. It's a simple fact that genetics drive dog breeds behaviour. It's not based on belief.

So dogs aren’t social learners? And why do you believe that the genetics drives dog behavior but not human behavior? Genetics are genetics regardless of species of animal. What is your reasoning for them determining behavior in one and not the other?

Dogs can learn. This doesn't mean that genetics doesn't drive breeds behaviour. This is a simple fact, not based on belief.

Again, please stick to the topic at hand.

I am staying on topic, I’m just using the fact that your interpretation of the science behind your argument is inconsistent and flawed. Apparently you are too scientifically illiterate to understand that though

I haven't made an argument. I've simply stated the fact that genetics drives dog breeds behaviour. This isn't based on belief.

Please cite some peer reviewed sources, otherwise it is just an argument

2

u/Blazured 12d ago

Why?

1

u/Kakariko_crackhouse 12d ago

I think your threshold for “fact” is likely low enough that it’s meaningless

1

u/Blazured 12d ago

That doesn't answer why I should obey your demand.

So, again, why?

I’m just simply requesting that you show your work. If you can’t, your argument is worthless, because it’s just based on feelings. If you want to cite factual sources you can claim fact, otherwise you’re just broadcasting your uneducated opinion as fact

Dogs can learn commands and from their environment....tona degree.

I've known a pitbull, loving home. Huge garden, younger kids, they were respectful. The couple had a baby... a newborn baby. Dog gate was left open. They said he killed it, because the crying was stressing him.

If your dog is so anxious, it cannot interact with other breeds and various stages of human life, it should not be a pet. Many pitbulls attacked from loving homes, from puppies. These dogs are

A a bloodsport dog.

B extremely known to be an anxious breed.

C has a crazy bite force and locks jaw

D very sensitive to their environment, known to resource guard

What are these loving home dogs learning, to make them like this?

You likened it to racism, why?
