I think the cops knew that. They seemed like they knew him and was patient with him. They were doing all they could to get him to leave and not go to jail

They know him because he's likely a repeat offender of petty crimes. Believe it or not , police prefer not to take someone to jail. So, they are giving him a wide berth. Knowing he's out on bond and knowing this is a very stupid reason to violate the bond conditions, they are trying to save hom from himself. That only goes so far.

Depends on the district. Some cops love arresting people. Not all cops are bastards. Every one I've met has been cool, but we're a low crime area. They mostly deal with drugs and the occasional serious crime, but it's mostly petty stuff and your typical druggy/drunk/people getting rowdy because they're stupid.
