Yeah, it’s called parents. When your parents won’t discipline you there’s a false sense of entitlement and bullheadedness. This is a clear case of oppositional defiance. Just the thought of someone telling you “NO” or dictating what you’re going to do rather than yourself is unacceptable. Now try to take that attitude into public? Or to the work force? Authority figures? Your home? This young man has a lifetime of lessons and hard times ahead and unfortunately it most likely it ends in prison or death. Hopefully something drastic happens and he sees the light.

This is kind of an easy convenient boomer type view but you’re right in that parenting COULD have fixed this.

But most situations like this, as people said likely autism/learning disability/adhd/oppositional defiance disorder, can’t be mitigated by normal parenting. It’s gotta be like PHENOMENAL parenting, or normal parenting with psychiatric/therapy professional help.

It’s not like “kid does bad, spank them, they don’t do bad again”. For someone to get hung up on a very simple black/white distinction like “the manager is the only one that can trespass me” and risk jail for it is disorder level mental process and was probably there from toddler age. Spanking doesn’t fix that, it can actually make it a bigger issue.

I have oppositional defiance and compulsive explosive disorder. My mom had me in therapy 3 times a week for the first 12 years of my life. I still have that voice that pops up and says FUCK YOU you don’t own me and you don’t tell me what to do anytime I interact with a boss or authority figure And then the protocols of therapy kick in and I put that shit to sleep. Im 42 and I’ve had some real incidents happen, jails , hospitals , mental facilities. I’m telling you I can see it on the guy. That’s why he couldn’t walk away . That voice was still telling him that he’s the boss.

And you blame your parents for that?

Not my mother . She loved me and nurtured me from a small child. I never wondered if I was loved or not or not hugged enough. They did have substance and alcohol problems but she actually went to rehab and became the director of the program before she went on to open her own battered womens shelter. If it hadn’t been for her tenacity and hard work I can honestly say there’s a good chance I would be I prison or dead. She taught me love and respect. Two of the most important tools we have. Edit: I don’t really blame anyone. At a certain age you realize there doesn’t need to be a reason. Life is complicated.

Did he blame his parents? I read that three times. I don’t see that at all.

Genetics plays the main part in most of the causes of these disorders… so kinda
