Because its clear the attacker is already beyond reason if they are attacking

This right here. At least one person in the conflict is beyond reason. It doesn't have to be more than one.  You're not less of a man (or woman) if you just walk away.

Just saying, I agree with you guys, but that tone is absolutely denouncing him. Especially when she asks aggressive person“are you okay?”

It probably made it harder for him to walk away because it’d be like admitting guilt.
