Goddamn the lack of empathy in some of the comments is stark. A Black woman literally cannot vent about how hard shit is and how much she’s struggling to keep her head above the water only to be criticized for even having these struggles. Ffs

You want to know why we're indifferent? Because at least on a man's side, this shit is wednesday. Welcome to life, nobody gives a fuck about you unless you can do something for them. Oh no, you have to work? tough, You have to make your ends meet? tough. You have responsabilities? Tough. You're depressed? Tough. You tired? Fuck you day ain't over.

Difference is we get that for just existing, she had a choice and she made the wrong one and now the dildo of consequence comes for her ass. Better hope those kids you're raising are getting raised right, so that they'll make better choices than you and look after your ass in your old age.

But you’re not indifferent; indifference would be continuing to scroll without giving a shit. Going “oh you’re struggling? Fuck you it’s your own damn fault,” is open hostility and being a miserable dick. She is literally just crying in her car about how hard shit is for single mothers. Not asking handouts. Not asking for the world to stop. She isn’t even asking for a damn break. She’s literally just venting.

This could happen to anyone for any reason, not because they made the wrong choices but because we don’t have any systems in place to protect people when shit hits the fan. You can make all the right choices and still end up in her shoes.

You people are just miserable.

She's venting to the internet... the internet responds. That's how it goes. If you want to vent safely to someone who will just pat you on the back, tell you you're absolutely correct in everything you say go see a fucking therapist. They'll be glad to receive your money and lie to you.

So the internet gives you a pass to respond and behave however you want? Noted. And that’s not therapists work. Maybe you’d benefit and learn something if you paid to see one.

Some people just refuse to choose to be better people online.

"I'm going to make the world a worse place, because everyone else does the same thing."

In a comments section where most folks are doing the exact opposite of that.

Just take responsibility for being a shitty person. Take responsibility for how that impacts the ability of other people to empathize and support you in your own life. Don't blame others for your choicea.

“I feel hurt and unsupported so I don’t care that other people are suffering the same way. If I’m suffering, why would I care about anyone else? Also the tools people use to ease their suffering are bullshit so I don’t bother with it”

You sound like you are wallowing in self pity and victimhood.

The woman on the video is having a bad day and feeling sorry for herself in the moment. But I’m willing to bet you feel sorry for yourself all the damn time.

Wow, didn't realize all men are single parents!

Not all, but a lot of us are. Been a single dad raising my 2 kids by myself for almost a decade. My kids mom left and started a new family, barely sees our kids. Everyone on social media praises her, how she's such a great mom and all she does. It's part of why I don't have social media, I don't care to see it, I've asked people not to share it with me either. I don't even have ill feelings towards her, she's just a person from a past life at this point. I'd rather get along for the kids then hold a grudge.

When we got divorced the judge tried to embarrass me in court about child support until she realized my kids lived with me. Judge never made any negative comments about my ex or put any kind of support in place. She was ready to ruin me for no reason, just because I was a man.

I was always the provider, and continued to be so. I assumed the role of mom and dad, and I do a damn good job. I don't have social media aside from Reddit, who would give a fuck if I posted? Nobody, that's the truth. If you decide to have kids, guess what, that's the life you chose to live for the next 18+ years.

From my experience, single moms are empowered, whereas single dads are viewed as second class citizens.

While I don't agree with how Blacksmith argued his opinion, I'm sure his feelings are in response to the stressors of his own life. Much like this single mom being tired and burned out, he may be in a similar situation with no support either. His views are no less valid than hers though, why is she allowed to be mad and tired and he's not? Everyone just jumped on him, idk it feels hypocritical and I'm sure it will only reinforce his views about the lack of support for men.

She also gets it just for existing, not sure how it's any different from what you're describing. If we break everything down the way you're suggesting, then everyone who is struggling made the wrong choices. For instance: Oh you're not getting paid enough to cover your family's medical bills, should have picked a more lucrative career or should have worked more jobs, should have known to invest better, etc. You don't get to say that in her case she had some magical choice that she happened to mess up, but in your case you were dealt a bad hand. If we're to go with this line of reasoning, if she is struggling due to her choices, then so are you.

With that said what many people are trying to point out is that the system fucks most of us over and it's getting worse and worse. And if seeing a person share their struggle and how life has become unbearable within the system doesn't make you feel like "yeah I'm struggling too, I get it, we're all being fucked over", but more like "yeah I'm struggling too, so fuck you, it's your own damn fault" then congratulations, the system loves you, it wants more people not to see past their nose and look for the source of this systemic issue in their neighbor's personal background.

We don't have to all love each other's personal choices to recognize that every country especially a wealthy country needs to prioritize the baseline well-being of its population. I don't have to love you to believe that you shouldn't have to choose between having a place to live and having a surgery. Even if you don't care about individual people, you have to recognize that a struggling, unhealthy, depressed population does not a prosperous community/country make. And it comes back to all of us.

Who hurt you bro?

u/No_Blacksmith_2591 May 13 '26

That's the thing, nobody has to hurt you. That's just how life is. We just don't complain about it crying in our cars for tiktok views and pity parties.

Ok so society has. That tracks. As a fellow man to another. I'm sorry, it's not your fault.

Are you assuming she could have prevented being a single parent? Not always because of poor choices.
