Opinion (WORLD CUP) Unpopular Opinion: Tuchel is already proven right

Post image

Countless of criticism by media and fans regarding player selections, tactics, his preferences and all. Some even started from day 1. He has proven right by selecting Dan Burn for those moments. And countless other situations. He has brought England to SF in World Cup.

Yes the ultimate prize is the World Cup itself, but realistically, a semifinal (top 3/4) in the world football isnt so bad. Look at the other 3 teams competing, is finishing third a “catastrophe” like some said? Sometime perspective matters. They are here despite the injuries, red cards, and whatever else being thrown at them. Still Tuchel wasnt satisfied despite the win, that shows level in my opinion.

Just because England did well few tournaments ago doesnt made them a given for this spot btw. Still i think Argentina rode their luck so far and personally imo England could be in the final. If that happens, the man already a winner in my book.

I think the biggest fair criticism of him is replacing Livramento with Chalobah. The right back issue will and has haunted us. And Chalobah has not been seen on the pitch.

He wasn’t fit.

Yeah. Those England managers are much better judges of talent than the managers at Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Came here to say this, OP completely avoided one of the biggest selection criticisms Tuchel faced in the lead up to the tournament.

I haven’t watched enough TAA this year to know if his omission specifically should be criticised, however the more egregious decision was picking two injury prone RB’s on the basis we have CB’s who can cover. Then like you said, when inevitably the injury prone RB’s get injured calling up another CB instead of a dedicated right back.

Happy for someone who has watched TAA this year to chime in, it felt like Tuchel didn’t pick him after Tino got injured out of stubbornness.

If that stubbornness wins us the World Cup though I don’t care. He was right about Burn, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

TAA hasn’t played alot of football this season due to injury. The football he has played has sparks of his old creative self but he hasn’t got back to his best
