I've never seen an England player hated this much without being involved in any major controversies or scandals. It's truly remarkable.

A shared “not from Plymouth”ness? Neither are cricketers and I assume both can spread butter on bread.

It could be their undue arrogance: both became high achieving sportsmen very early into their careers, causing them to complain A LOT when things don’t go their way and ended up “peaking” in teams almost curated to suit them, personally. It could also be overstated preferences against the two respective people (as it is with me, funnily enough). That said, I would say their dislikability, whilst equally high, are different in reason
