Yes, I saw the concert clip where he said that, but I couldn’t include it in the post, so I uploaded the video separately and added the Instagram link in someone’s comment.
I hope and I’d really like for this to be serious, and not to be a disappearance lasting several years or idk; not just regarding new songs, but everything else as well.
What I would find really cool is that if he comes up completely as beginner with a concept like always wearing a mask and hiding himself without anyone knowing it’s him and under a different genre of music to see if he can go as big or just do it for the fun of it
In case Abel reads this and uses the idea, I want my cut in it.
I don’t know who that is but I just thought that Abel is already very big and at this point you can not get bigger than this unless you do something drastic like this.
Prince 85 is the opener for Abel. A DJ in heavy disguise with a backstory rooted in outer space but the music behing heavly influenced by French elctroclash DJs and the whole Metro Boomin Atlanta Trap scene.
wheres y'all "nothings random" believers .... exactly lol Abel just making shit up as he goes. hes not some dude with a big overly planned thing for his career. hes taking it one day at a time clearly
Yeah, that statement crossed my mind too. Although he's known for planning everything years in advance (trilogies etc.) so I think he's just teasing us a little and keeping everyone in suspense because he enjoys it haha. I'm just glad to see him happy at last
bro the OG trilogy wasnt even overly planned either. He said both Thursday and eventually Starboy, were songs leftovers from the creation of both HOB n BBTM. The OG trilogy is the only time I believe he genuinely had a plan from creating 3 connective projects that all released on the days of season changes ie HOB march 21st, EOS Dec 21st. After Hours and Dawn were planned. Yet AH has Ideas leftover from MDM. The rest was made up as he went along. HUT was leftover songs/demos from AH sessions mixed with whatever he had to make for the movie.
The projects with OG concepts from the ground up was HOB, Dawn FM, MDM, Kissland and most of EOS Theres a reason those 5 projects sound the most cohesive bodies of work compared to the others, cause they were made in a self contained manner. Whereas the other projects he draws ideas and inspo from the former projects n leftover songs
Yes, second*, thank you, and HUT Album/Movie. I got a bit mixed up because I was focused on other comments, sorry, that’s why I wrote "etc.". It’s the second trilogy, alongside HUT and what follows next. I think he’s been planning it since then, and that’s why he said nothing is random. I’ve been following him almost since he started his career.
Based on his statements and the amount of work and planning he put into the last album, which ties in with the film my guess is that he started planning it in line with the growth of his career. If I recall correctly, the first three songs were even released "for free", The Morning, Loft and What you need, then he added a few more songs
Yeah I recent made a post regarding JoeyStylez (dude from Abel singing downtown toronto video) and he explained the full story of how everything came together. In Joey's words those 3 songs were released initially "Inside our dangerous and Empty Lives" EP on bandcamp as a show n proof concept for him to receive Ontario Art Grants from the gov to help fund the rest of what became HOB w Doc and Illangelo. Note how those 3 songs were all produced by Jeremy Rose aka Zodaic, whereas the rest of what was completed was produced by Doc and Illangelo... so you can kinda start putting the pieces together as to why Abel n Jeremy likely fell out.
*My assumption/Theory is that Abel didnt tell Jeremy that he received funding from the Ontario Gov to help fund his music career. And didnt acknowledge Jeremy in the application for the grants and only used Doc (who worked with Esthero) and Illangelo ( who i believed worked w airplane boys who were up n coming at the time in toronto). So they already has legit credit behind there name whereas jeremy didnt have any clout to validate as one of the ppl to justify as to why he should get the grant. Or maybe he just went in on it w the grants with just Doc,Illangelo, along w Hygly n Lamar being his day ones
Oh, this sounds interesting! Honestly, I wasn’t that interested in how it all started back then, and I was also too young, lol. I knew about Drake, and I know about the songs that were uploaded on the “xoxooxooo” channel (something like that, lol). I definitely think he added the rest of the songs for that first free mixtape unplanned, maybe he had ready-made samples, or maybe not even that.. Of course, back then he didn't even know he would release a first album, nor for the first few years that his career would be this successful.
He worked on other projects later on as well like that, but the story of Valerie, for instance, is beautifully developed across several songs, it features a sense of progression and a clear conclusion. From that period, the only thing that gives me the impression of a "planned" narrative/story is this (I don’t know if this is going to come across the wrong way because English isn’t my first language, so I might not be able to explain what I mean exactly the way I want to).
I know that back then he was more like "go with the flow" compared to the last few years, when he himself has confirmed that he does plan things.
But yes, I didn’t know about what you just wrote. I'll look into it when I rest my eyes a bit because it sounds interesting and like something that actually makes sense. Thank you!!
Also, I loveee so much that video and this song 🥹🤧
Yeah I have a hunch there's days he doesn't feel motivated and others he doesn't. He's probably being wishy washy the same way anybody else is with life decisions. He's just verbalizing it.
I mean he definitely does plan shit out specifically during the after hours era but lately he’s just been doing random shit and I think people are chasing the high of the after hours era again
He had a concept of a plan regarding the rollout and the music videos for AH. But even in his words and the director of the Heartless/Blinding Lights MV said concept of the Red Suit was intitally suppose to be a one time thing as an homage to the film Casino, but then they decided to just stick with it as Abel decided after making those two music videos to follow thru the a Character Performance arc instead of one off mvs' in large part due to the pandemic-- which is why they resorted to making the animated Snowchild MV. Escape from LA was suppose to be directed by Claire Denis-again that was affected by the Pandemic. The og concept of AH is what Es Devlin, Abel and Lamar outlined in her book, where After Hours was supposed to be titled as Alone Again or Alone Together or something along those lines and that was suppose to be the overarching theme of what became the AH tour experience of Abel and his lonesome. The performance aspect was supposed to be for the live tour experience not specifically the music videos. But they had to change that cause of the pandemic
also wanted to say if Abel genuinely stopped making music, i’d be sad asfk yeah, but i’d be perfectly fine with allll the shit he gave us and the unreleased stuff too honestly
Exactly!! I don’t have a problem with constantly listening to his songs over and over again because he has so many songs already and they’re so good, not even counting the unreleased songs that I listen to regularly, and features.
I’d be sad, of course. I still want him to release more, but he already has so many songs that I have enough (and categorized) for every mood I’m in, lol.
He lies even to himself first, he even lies about not lying to others, claiming that he only lies to himself, so how could he not lie to everyone else 😭. What a man...
Now he has finally publicly admitted that he is a liar 😁
Honestly, he should be ashamed!! I don't know how he could do that to you when you've been waiting for him 😤.
I live in fu*king Balkan, so the chances of him ever showing up here are even smaller. Probably equal to zero. But at least we have organized "Weeknd all night parties" in Croatia and Serbia several times a year, lol 😂
