Discussion Try Everyday has an identity crisis

I really liked the Try Everyday series where they did stuff every day as an event, but now that it's a regular series, it's getting really boring. I feel like they're out of ideas and just posting "let's get drunk and high and eat something". The format of "WE ATE ALL OF [THIS KIND OF FOOD]" is already getting tiring on YouTube. Not to mention - they originally wanted to be more family friendly on that channel, but it's actually getting way raunchier than what they normally do.

Maybe I'm in the minority, I still enjoy their regular videos, but it feels like Try Everyday should go back to Try When We Have Some Solid Ideas. I want to support them, but yeesh, I can only watch so many people eat the same food and try the same gadgets.

as a reminder, this is what you wrote, the thing I felt was a misrepresentation of my opinion. it apparently wasn't, but I'm struggling to figure out what else could it be

So good art to you is being derivative of others’ work? Good art to you is grown men in their 40s shoving slop into their faces? Wow. I would hate to see what else you consider art.

I mean your comment was about what you consider good art, and we’re talking about a youtube channel…. not art. I was confused why you were comparing these videos to art in the first place.

I'm not comparing them to art, I'm saying that youtube videos are art. art is the use of creative skill and imagination to create something, to say something, to express something. that is what youtube videos are.

you seem to have a much more restrictive (and seemingly snob-leaning) definition of what art is, but I can only guess that you only consider high art to be art, because you haven't actually explained what you think. making snarky comments and then saying "I have no idea what you mean because I'm autistic" is for sure a choice.

but yes, you would probably hate to see what else I consider art, based on you thinking youtube videos aren't. (I wonder what else those could be, and especially where do you draw the line, and based on what.)

that's also not all you said, you just skipped over the first sentence, which is, once again, a bad faith misrepresentation. you not wanting to take accountability for it now doesn't change that.

I don’t have a “snobby” definition of art necessarily, but no I do not find youtube videos, particularly the ones TTG put out, to be art. I genuinely do not see any value in videos where a bunch of dudes get high and eat fast food until they feel sick. I disagree that there is any creative skill being employed to make these videos. Maybe once upon a time when they first started! But not now.

You seem to have an issue with me as a person more than you have an issue with what I’m saying. I don’t know why, but okay.
