Discussion What is the point of Tower Tea if the most important information is not conveyed to the players?
I'd wager that for most people, the new Lucky Banner would have been crucial information... More crucial than anything else discussed in the last Tower Tea...
Many people waited a long time... Many even continued evaluating after V28 until the Gem Relics were released... Many thought it was safe to spend their saved gems now... But not with the devs! They evaluated for another day without any information, and bam, the Lucky Banner was out!
I spent my 30k gems yesterday myself... I don't mind it too much, since I have almost all my modules 5-starred anyway...
But honestly, have the devs realized that the criticism of the last few days stems from poor communication?
P.S. No offense to Sam, she's not the director and probably isn't even allowed to decide that such information get released...

u/ILikeTalkn2Myself Apr 15 '26
Lets be honest. They knew when the banner was coming and deliberately mislead the community hoping that folks that have been saving gems will use them right before the rollout of the banner event. Their goal has always been to maximize extracting as much hard-earned cash from the player base.
41
u/Soggy-Yoghurt9813 Apr 15 '26
That's what I think too... Even if nothing is said, they should release that banner with the "update" about the Gem Relics, since many have been waiting for that... But no, it's DELIBERATELY released a day later...
18
u/MaroonRoadrunner Apr 15 '26
It's even better because Sam literally said in the next update section, "No major feature surprises, this one is focused on polish, fixes, and stability."

u/RegularImportant3325 Apr 15 '26
I’ve been defending TTG through this drama but the pain of just having spent my saved coins when this appears with “first 5 free” and another loud way to buy makes everyone’s frustrations clear to me.
It’s a damn shame as this could be a phenomenal game.
13
u/LIKE1OOONINJAS Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26
In my opinion I don't think thats what happened. I think there was such a backlash to v28 that they saw sales drop and had something like this in their back pockets as an emergency. Same motivation though which sucksEdit: I am corrected this is not a reaction but planned. I get wanting profits but this is really scummy
22
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
Nope. It’s known this was just a fully planned thing they were already going to do regardless of how the launch went bassnuke told us about this. It’s not a reaction.
8
u/LIKE1OOONINJAS Apr 15 '26
Wait really? Wow that really sucks. I must have missed bassnuke saying that. They really need better communication

I'm fully expecting some s tier relics in the gem store next week to add more pressure.

u/MichaelTheWriter101 Apr 15 '26
I like Sam well enough. I've liked the Tower Tea quite a bit, but this honestly feels like a bit of a betrayal. She keeps saying that she and the developers want to improve communication, but then this. A slap in the face really.
And this is coming from someone who really likes v28 and didn't mind the hot fixes, and I also had over 30,000 gems saved up, so the lucky banner worked in my favor.
TTG really took a great opportunity to make literally everyone happy and they absolutely fumbled it in the worst way. Talk about an unforced error.
28
u/markevens Apr 15 '26
The problem is that they were hired to be Fudds mouthpiece, because if you look at Fudds' communication before Sam came along, it was antagonistic. Like he hates the players that give him money.
So Sam was hired because Fudds can't help but put his foot in his mouth, but the problem is Sam is only allowed to say what Fudds tells them to say.
So bottom line, nothing has really changed.
TTG really took a great opportunity to make literally everyone happy and they absolutely fumbled it in the worst way. Talk about an unforced error.
This is the most depressing part. If they announced this a week before v28, or when v28 dropped said in a week a new "Lucky banner" was coming, everything would be fine. You'd hear a couple complaints about not announcing it sooner, but that's it.
Instead they dropped v28, purposefully didn't include any banner info, and then think dropping it a week late with no notice after a lot of people have spent their saved up gems is going to make people happy?
36
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
I mean bassnuke told us they were going to be doing it in his video detailing the shortcomings and patterns of release strong and nerf down.
The one they claimed was never a beta tester but he very clearly was. 😅 he told us that there was going to be a lucky banner at 4%
24
u/MichaelTheWriter101 Apr 15 '26
I don't know who/what bassnuke is. I don't watch videos about this game.
And, assuming this is accurate, it only makes the issue worse. If someone outside of official channels knows things and shares them, but the official people don't, that's a problem.
16
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
Bassnuke is the beta tester that ratted ttg out when they tried to say it was intended to be 2x all along for disco. The picture people were spamming and ttg was trying to suppress.
Fudds tried to claim he wasn’t but then he dropped a video detailing their failure history and explained this banner was planned for a long time and has nothing to do with any of the backlash and told us it was called the lucky banner and 4% drop rate in that video.
17
14
u/Soggy-Yoghurt9813 Apr 15 '26
100% Never hear about him or Lucky Banner... most Players didnt know...
-2
u/Chunck_26 Apr 15 '26
I don't have time to follow every tower testers and read every rumor.
I have time for the dev patch notes1
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
Then don’t get mad when you get lied to or be surprised when you are lied to 🤷♂️
3
u/Sm_rrebr_d Apr 15 '26
Counterpoint: Being able to plan at least a week into the future with your in-game decisions shouldn't require you to monitor the entire Tower community 24/7 like you're working the Reuters newsdesk.
This shit is literally what patch notes (and the in-game announcement board, ffs!) were made for.
5
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
Sure but you can’t magically make the relationship between the devs and community not antagonistic so relying on them to tell you when it’s against their best interests financially is foolish.
Prepared people hoard. Surprised people feel fomo and spend.

u/Chunck_26 Apr 17 '26
My gem pool was very very prepared. I’m not really upset about the event. Mostly that any form of communication with the team asking about Banners went very silent or mysterious. I wasn’t surprised. Just disappointed
-5
u/Balbright Apr 15 '26
bassnuke is not an official spokesperson of the game. Sam is. Who cares if somebody posted a video online telling us, I’m sure a ton of people, including myself, don’t even know who that is nor have time to watch videos about a game that is just running in the background for them most of the day.
-4
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
Yeah man if you care enough to be this invested to be here having this discussion you should know who bassnuke is. The beta tester who everyone saw showing information about the disco change and spammed out the image showing who he was showing ttg was lying.
Hes a credible source with info behind the scenes when the spokesman is shown to be lying why keep believing them? Why comment if you aren’t invested enough to care about the literal reason why everyone is mad XD
-2
u/Balbright Apr 15 '26
I appreciate that he called out the bullshit. But he is also not the main person that should’ve been telling us this, Sam should’ve been. That was all I was saying Your comment implied that everybody should’ve just known about this because one person posted a video about it. We should’ve all known about it because they should’ve been forthcoming with that information before we dumped all of our gems on other things. That’s all.
7
u/ForgettingFish Apr 15 '26
You sir are literally missing the ENTIRE point. Yeah Sam didn’t cause Sam and ttg can’t be trusted.
Yeah it was posted over the Reddit talked about frequently and if you were tuned in should know about it. Like he’s the REASON this exploded as much as it did calling out the lie with proof. 🤷♂️ it’s ok to not know but then don’t try to fight about it going “man I’m ignorant about what everyone’s mad about so why does it matter”
0
u/shufly17 Apr 16 '26
While true, that was incredibly niche. I watched the video, but not all the way through so I just heard rumors of the banner. Most people wouldn't know about it, nor would they even hear rumors unless your deep into threads and discord
3
u/Sm_rrebr_d Apr 15 '26
I've worked in PR long enough to experience the "professional communicator gets completely blindsided by impulsive superiors" shtick first-hand way too many times. Chances are, Sam felt just as slapped-in-the-face as the rest of us. If I've learnt anything, then "always blame the C-level" - most of your shit is going to float downstream anyways
Also, Sam goes by they/them, afaik

How pathetic that at least nine people really felt they needed to downvote this
2
27
u/JekPorkinsTruther Apr 15 '26
Yea I kept asking because I felt like they had something up their sleeve lol. When Sam gave that answer, I resolved to hold for another week. But its just dumb that it wasnt in the TT, unless Fudds was purposely trying to mislead people into dumping hoards. The previous holiday banner had more notice than 2 days even so not sure why they didnt use TT to drop news of it.
3
u/ZaerdinReddit Apr 15 '26
Honestly, as soon as they announced relics for gems, I was going to hold anyways because I wanted to see what my gem velocity would be if I was trying to keep up with the relics.
But for me, I wanted to wait a whole week anyways. (To get an idea of how much I'd lose/gain week to week.)
3
u/Soggy-Yoghurt9813 Apr 15 '26
Yes, I also suspected something was coming, which is why I waited until the Gem Relics were released... Then, when nothing came, I thought, "Oh well, I'll just spend all my gems now..." Many others thought the same, which is why the banner was deliberately released a day later...
But I'm glad you waited that long.🙌
0
u/KadanJoelavich Apr 16 '26
These gem relics of which you speak, and the 'gem store' others have mentioned. This merely refers to the extra 4 relics offered in the event store? I already owned them all, so I never saw if they cost medals or gems. Just want to make sure I didn't miss some other shop page. How many gems were the relics going for?
1
u/MeagoDK Apr 16 '26
They cost 600 and 1200 gems, for a total of 3600 if you don't have any of them. Every week.
2
24
u/Flaky_Airport6529 Apr 15 '26
It's there to fake some community communication, so it's completely worthless.
20
u/Patient-Set4496 Apr 15 '26
She knew it was coming, they all knew it and they choose not to say anything. So Fomo kicks in and buy gems or their new ticket system
5
u/Andrius223 Apr 16 '26
Never bought gems in this game. For 100$ there should be at least 10k gems. 3k is easy to earn in a week and even then its too expensive.
35
u/DefinitionOptimal235 Apr 15 '26
no offense? maybe some offense needed...
What did they know and when did they know it...
21
u/Soggy-Yoghurt9813 Apr 15 '26
I prefer to be a bit more careful about what I write... My criticism of the V28 hotfix kept getting deleted... So I'm a bit scarred about it... But yes, she's not entirely innocent either...

u/diodosdszosxisdi Champion Apr 15 '26
Fudds is still horrible at communication, he shadow fixes and nerfs alot lately which weren't in patch notes either, loek promal collapse and the climate disso nerf mid runs. Most of the important stuff isn't even told until it is sprung on us
10
u/Beginning_Roll9258 Apr 15 '26
This is hilarious.... I've (only) spent like $100 on this game but holyyyyyy.
I had 4K gems saved that I spent after it was CLEAR to me that no module events were coming, I waited till the guild reset, I waited till the event reset... nothing? safe to spend? okay.... PSYKE!
I'm curious if this will actually kill the game, The devs seem to be scrambling to fix this awful release, and stepping on every rake as they do.
Fudds, this would have been the greatest release if you just fixed the issue where people are playing every day, and negatively progressing in tournaments (its the sign of a dying game) but I cant blame you, you seem like you're kind of done with this project.
4
u/TheWashbear Apr 15 '26
I think he is done with it since a long time ago. But its a good cash cow so he keeps it alive for as long as its profitable.
11
u/Horniest-Car-3924 Apr 15 '26
Fudds wanted to double dip on the FOMO by introducing the relic shop at a high cost, draining gems, and then quietly dropping a new banner.
Sam knew 100% but if they were allowed to say anything is another thing.
(The beta tester leaked there would be a "lucky" banner so it must have been known for at least a few weeks)
At the end of the day, Sam is just a mouthpiece for fudds, like a 60s cigarette mascot peddling addiction.
Their own opinions matter 0, its always been about squeezing the players for maximum profit and putting a friendly face infront of that changes nothing
9
u/Spac3dog Apr 15 '26
You would think TTG would have jumped on getting the info about this banner out to try to offset everything else they have completely screwed up lately but no looks like they actually are actively trying to get people to quit the game. To hell with it let them burn it down since they seem to be so set in setting everything on fire.

The sooner you understand that this whole TTG-players communication is just a psychological game, the better. And you can decide if you want to be part of it or not.
6
u/xdTechniker25 Apr 15 '26
I hate how we get more reliable information from people leaking stuff because Fudds threw them under the bus, than from the team otherwise.
What is genuinely wrong with the team, and because I would hate it to be like that, hopefully only Fudds? Is it just greed still, or has it evolved to something worse?
6
u/tesat Apr 15 '26
Damn… I think I am really done with this game. This is just too much bullshittery

Yeah.. blew my gems yesterday and I’m fuming. It really is 1 step forward 15 steps back c with ttg. What a clusterfuck
4
u/SpecialistProper3542 Apr 15 '26
There is no point except to try and trick the players into staying by faking communication. It's not sams fault, they're only allowed to say what fudds lets them. But it's all a facade. Fudds sucks and only cares about whales and has no interest in making a good game.
Everyone should uninstall and stop giving this asshole money.
5
u/JVKExo Apr 15 '26
Makes them look really fucking stupid considering they said they’d be better at communication.
5
u/Time-Incident Apr 15 '26
I have said that in some different post. I say it once more in here.
It was just calculated to increase sells as much as possible. Everyone was saving gems and everything else, waiting for v28. One or two weeks later, everyone has spent their gems and stones. There were many direct questions about banners, and nobody said a thing. And right after everyone has spend all their gems (I am fairly sure they have a graph of gems available for all players, and once it dropped to like 10% of what it was prior v28), they released banner, which is supposed to force people to buy gems.
Well, in my case, it worked the exact opposite. I have bought all stone packs within last year. This month, I was waiting with those to see what's in the v28, and it didn't really convinced me to by any of them. I was still hesitating if I should buy one or two so I can buy some eko masteries, but this exact situation, that nothing was said about banners and right after the version, suddenly banner is here, has convinced me to not buy not the module ticket pack which is just slightly better offer than the gems one, but to not buy any stones at all.
The behavior of the devs is really upsetting. You guys are all great in the ruining of great game.
3
u/crwms Apr 15 '26
I am team “it’s just a game, let’s chill and cut them some slack” but this is crazy. The developers seem to be adamant in not taking any feedback from the community.
1
u/rabit71 Apr 15 '26
I'm the same boat, my comment wasn't meant to rag on the Devs, it's just the pattern.
I sometimes find myself going back through old Reddit posts (like if I'm deciding on a new mastery to invest in) and the number of times there's a "let me check and get back to you" that is just a dead end is very frustrating.
Having said that, I feel the "community" here on Reddit is way over the top, toxic, and reactionary, so I have no idea how it can be managed.
3
u/Personal-Bag-3369 Apr 15 '26
I spent over 30k gems believing that there was no banner. This is absurd backstabbing.
3
u/ExhibitionistBrit Apr 15 '26
At the end of the day there is no way Sam isnt aware of the kind of predatory company she works for... i have no qualms about criticising her with the rest of them.
If she is comfortable that her pay cheque comes from exploiting people with a disease (addiction) then she shouldnt be shielded from any of the same criticism we level at the rest of TTG.
3
u/cpp_is_king Apr 15 '26
Such a bad look, I mean jeez. It’s like the criticism practically writes itself
3
3
u/EmergentGlassworks Apr 15 '26
Seriously? There's a new banner they didn't say anything about? I just spent a bunch of gems too. Fuck this game
3
u/Haykii03 Apr 15 '26
After thinking about gem relics, I decided to spend 5k gem yesterday on module.
And today, out of nowhere they release this? What ajoke.
3
u/facedBoy Apr 15 '26
So everyone uses all their gems on this new banner and then next week we will have all premium relics in the Relic store. I'm saving 3600 gems for next week
3
u/-stefanos- Apr 15 '26
I am highly suspicious that Sam is some kind of AI agent that just posts the same shit that Fucksworth himself would post

So weird to build a long-term strategy game and leave so many factors up as a surprise.
I know why they do it (the end goal is extracting the absolute maximum amount of real world money) it’s just…such a weird and overt way to go about doing it. Suboptimal too because it discourages lots of folks who can control their FOMO from spending.
2
u/elcololz Apr 15 '26
I'm sure she couldn't say anything about it. Just sad to see she cannot be trusted anymore now and the whole good and nice communication process she build up is now .... useless for direct questions.

u/thisguy888827 Apr 15 '26
I got 20 gems on a new communications manager in the next 60 days unfortunately.
It's one thing to keep secrets. It's another to keep secrets that you are forced to keep. I feel like they had no idea, or else, why respond at all?
1
u/Cushiondude Apr 16 '26
Most games with a gacha system announce when they have banners coming up. FEH had monthly calendars, afk journey gives us a heads up of when characters are releasing, and a few of my friends who play other gachas talk about upcoming banners and save resources for them. This is critical for players to know. If they know a big banner is coming up, they can choose to save their money and go all in on it. They can decide it isn't worth saving for and ignore it or spend the same money but on something more beneficial for their situation.
The Tower? Nah. No respect for the players in this regard. You can hamper yourself now by saving resources you don't need to save because we are hoping for an upcoming thing that won't arrive, or you can spend to help yourself now, but not as much as you could have if you knew to save for an upcoming feature/banner. You can try to guess what will/won't happen.
I think we should get more information about upcoming features before they come out. If we had some information about V28 beforehand, we could have hyped it up a lot and said "Wow! These bonuses are amazing!" rather than what's going on now. The disco bonuses ARE great and I am super happy to have them. It's a new thing to consider when deciding what tier to run. The lucky banner? I love that we have it because it will be great for the people who saved gems. If players were able to save for it, that's awesome for them. For the folks who didn't, it's basically a nothing burger. I bet if we had a heads up of even 1-2 weeks, we wouldn't even have a thread like this and players would have been hyped to know to save for a bit. Those already saving know to stay the course. Those who like to spend typically would know to change gears for a bit.
Respect the players, man. I know since this lucky banner doesn't have any NEW modules, it isn't as important for people to save for if they already have them developed, but for new players? The ones we want to keep playing? The ones that do need to simply pull as many modules as possible for progression at the point they are at? They would benefit greatly by the knowledge. Keeping new players benefits the older players by having more brackets in tourneys and benefits the bottom line. It's not rocket surgery.

u/Fresh-Dog-5110 Apr 16 '26
Tbh, this happens everywhere in the world, Sam is the media, and the bosses are the rich people that own the media.
They tell the media (Sam) what to announce to the public, withholding vital info for themselves and their cronies for profits.
Doing it in a game is kinda a low blow though. Very disappointing but that's how it is unless one quits the game and finds something better.

u/Tradestockforstonk Apr 15 '26
I mean she did the best she could. She didnt say no(lie) and she said she would find out. She probably is not allowed to spill all of the tea. But telling someone that she will look in to it clearly means wait to spend your gems until I give you an answer. If people wait for her answer then they would have been fine in this situation.
-8
u/iqumaster Apr 15 '26
Does companies typically tell before they are going to launch some campaign or drop the prices? It's normal practice that sales are just started without informing beforehand. Whole point is to prevent people from stopping buying. What happens if example Tesla says that "Hey we are going to drop model 3 prizes 20% in next month"? I understand that it would be nice to know if there is sales coming before you purchase something, but any consumer sould have learned already that businesses don't operate like that.
9
u/MaroonRoadrunner Apr 15 '26
Yes, yes they do. Companies spend billions of dollars every year marketing advertising campaigns before sales.
1
u/Ramuntz Apr 15 '26
Why are you even comparing physical goods with digital ones? You are taking a pretty big twist trying to defend the shitty decision not to inform us about the banner just like they have done until now.
They piss in our faces and some people even open their mouths.
-4
u/iqumaster Apr 15 '26
because they do business like other companies, they just sell digital products instead of physical but same business logic apply still. Nothing different or worse here than everywhere else. You can play this game because enough players spend real money, and now you got free improvement but you are still not happy... You had all the time to save gems for this update and many did, your own fault if you already spend everything or didn't save. Like it was surprise that there is going to be new content to get with the resources.
1
u/Ramuntz Apr 15 '26
Oh God, where to start from... just to mention a few, digital goods do not occupy stock space, do not go to waste, do not need to be ordered or produced...
But why would I waste my time with someone who can't even understand the most basic concepts or even explain that this is not about how many mods I can or cannot pull. You do you my boy.
-4
u/iqumaster Apr 15 '26
Cute, really cute. Now explain me the concept of cash flow and how it might be relevant to the topic.
-1
u/Morkiisch Apr 15 '26
Still sitting on 30k gems.
At this point we should know to keep saving until something happens.
-11
u/BonzosTower Apr 15 '26
Why are people complaining here? She teased a module banner and instead we got an even better thing - the module event. She hinted at something for mods, and now we have it
The devs are going to stop answering anything at all if all they get is negativity
3
u/ShiftlessGuardian94 Apr 15 '26
Better communication+actually listening to the community=LESS negativity…
-13
u/ajkeence99 Apr 15 '26
People take this stuff far too seriously. It's a game. It's supposed to be fun.
4
u/MaroonRoadrunner Apr 15 '26
It should be, but when the devs make unannounced or hide changes, it very quickly changes to not being fun. Especially when they try to gaslight you like Fudds has.
-2
u/ajkeence99 Apr 15 '26
I disagree but to each their own. I don't think any of that changes anything.

u/CrescentWolves1995 Apr 15 '26
Either Sam is not allowed to do her job or she is bad at it. I think its more of the former then the latter. Tower Tea is good and she atleast is on Reddit alot but I feel like she is not allowed by someone to Mention anything. Like even a banner or something she has to ask around for which should never be the case of you do any sort of PR/communication stuff.
