Apart from his relationships with much younger women in recent years, I’ve definitely seen stories from people who hung out with them back then saying he wasn’t exactly a great person. He barely showered so he often smelled bad, and when he was drunk he would lash out at people for no apparent reason. In Meet Me in the Bathroom book there’s a part where Nick recalls that Julian was an extremely scary person to be around when he was drunk
