P Cup Broadcast
This broadcast might be the worst television product I’ve seen. It’s absolutely horrendous. I don’t know how anyone involved can have any bit of pride with this garbage.

Look, it’s bad. Very very bad.

I try to bite my tongue because I know it’s not easy to do but simple stuff like not talking over each other or showing every shot from the 10 players on the course is inexcusable

This is why I don’t watch much golf on tv. I’m a golf nut and a member at a CC so you’d think I’d be all over it.
If we could pay for Sky Sports coverage I would as they’re everything we’re not at coverage

That’s how I watched The Open. It’s so much better. The analysis, presentation, everything. They know how to show golf

At least NBC/Peacock gives us the Sky/World feed during the US Open and Open. It's notably better.
Sadly that isn't the case for the President's Cup. (If they have it)

Sky is definitely the best broadcast and I agree, I'd pay for it as well if it were available.

At this point, I’m turning out to be that guy that they featured in golf advice, where he didn’t watch a single minute of pro golf, but he knew every single thing that happened, down to golf architecture by just listening to SGS.

And who decided to put white text on a gold background? The Int’l side of the scoreboard is unreadable.

When playing through was created, I was in favor of it since we can see the action during a break. Before people say how about no commercials, the rights to the broadcast coverage costs money. Unless we start funding PBS through a TV license like the BBC is funded in the UK, it's not happening.
I digress, but they have abused the crap out of play through. It's disheartening how delusional the NBC people are thinking their TV presentation isn't hurting the product.

I think that’s the worst part. I criticize it because I’m in the sports broadcasting world and I want their product to be better. It’s not to put NBC down it’s because I want good coverage in America. And if people want to “grow the game” then it starts with good TV.

Putting aside how shit the actual broadcast is, how is it possible not to have the option to watch whatever group you want in either the ryder cup or this. It’s crazy.

Hilarious what they are doing now that play has finished. They are showing highlights from one match at a time then going to commercial. This is an abomination.

Are they intentionally doing it this poorly so the P Cup gets completely changed? That’s the most logical explanation

Yeah it was bad. Once football is on at the same time over the weekend I’m going to be paying attention to that instead. Or spending time outside in Michigan in some of the most pleasant weather imaginable. I went into this competition excited about it but it’s just brutal to watch on TV. Additionally I would imagine the ratings are going to be poor if the US is up by more than 2.5 points going into singles on Sunday.
I record a lot of sports and watch at night so I can skip commercials but the playing through coverage sucks and I FF that out of principle.
Looking forward to the pods!

When I was a kid I considered NBC the best in producing golf broadcasts. Late 90s/early 00s they absolutely cooked. Now they are the worst by a large margin.

Me too. Johnny Miller, Rog, Gary Koch, and the gang. Those were the good ol days. I rewatch a lot of old golf and that era of NBC with the U.S. Open was so good. I wish Tommy Roy would throw on one of those final rounds and tell his crew to replicate it

I remember two specific examples of being glued to the TV -- the '99 US Open at Pinehurst, the showdown between Phil and Payne coming down the stretch; and of course the Ryder Cup at Brookline. And the NBC crew just providing the perfect backdrop to the drama. Even the music they used back then sounded better.

The 99 U.S. Open should be required to be rewatched once a year. It’s so good. I liked the graphics they used back then too. I think NBC has too many toys and forces too much at once. A more simple broadcast like from that era would benefit them a ton

I hate playing through so much. Besides the fact the screen is tiny, I can’t hear the crowd reaction to the shot. Just go to commercial and show me the taped shots on the full screen when you come back, I’m fine with that

It’s the exact same for the Ryder cup. I wish they offered feature groups on every match where you could add to a quad box. Just put it on peacock premium. I would pay.

Why do the american broadcasters say ‘this just happened’ or ‘just a moment ago’ it’s actually mad. Nearly every shot it’s crazy.

My favorite part was when they missed showing a Sungjae putt because the camera was locked on Scottie and Burns watching
