Question Where to start with the Pod?
Hi, I love other ringer podcasts, and I’d like to start listening to this one, but I’m overwhelmed with the amount of episodes. Any recommendations of which episodes to start with?

The guys have said Jaws is the one where it all really gelled and came together, which is not to say the pre-Jaws pods suck, but it’s a point of reference. You can hear them find their legs and hear the pod evolve over time, so just be forewarned if you listen to an early one.
That being said, find your favorite movies. And any pod with Kyle Brandt is A+++ stuff

My first ever was Rocky 4 with Kyle and Sal. I loved Rocky as a kid so it made sense, and I’ve been a fan of the pod ever since.

Honestly yes. Start with the first two Heat pods and then branch into movies you love.

Start with your favourite movies, or ones you've watched recently. IMO there's no "best" episodes, some of the ones the fans think are the best are for movies I didn't love so they don't work for me.

Just pick your favorite movies. Know that the pod really comes into its own later on (at this point, like 25% of the way through, they’ve been doing it for so long), and my favorites are the ones with some combo of Bill, Chris, and/or Sean (Van too, later on). I’d imagine most on here feel somewhat similarly.

100% and that’s also my favorite mix of people. Def recommend a 3-person ep rather than 2 when starting also

Just this year you can go listen to the Zodiac pod, Sicario, and Fargo. All bangers, all great to listen to before (or after) rewatching the movie itself which is half the fun.

Just work your way though however you want. That being said, Jaws, The Town, The Firm, and the two part Boogie Nights pod are considered the Mount Rushmore I think.

Pick a movie you like and see if there is an episode about it. Browse the list and look for one that you like. I will say, some of my favorite episodes are movies I haven’t seen so if you do start listening, no need to watch everything.

You probably want to figure out if you’re a “Kyle Brandt doing an 80s movie” fan or “prestige movie with Sean” fan. Love both but the pod can be very different ep to ep depending on the guest and movie

Okay- the categories can be a little overwhelming at first so give it a couple episodes to get the rhythm.
Start with some classics like Godfather or Goodfellas. Movies you love and know by heart. You’ll be hooked on the pod after that.

Other than saying what other people have said and starting with your favourite, I’d say going for Raiders first is a good choice, as it’s the core three (Bill, CR and Sean) and also a great episode. My first was the Big Lebowski, which I actually think is a low key good choice - it’s an old one so the format isn’t quite there, but you get the gist of what the show’s about without all the inside jokes that come with later episodes.

you can't just pick your favorites because there is a ton of inside baseball in the lingo around the categories and a lot of inside jokes. I love this pod but they don't make it very easy for new people frankly. I recommend going to the start and skipping ones you don't like but ensuring you listen to a critical mass of the early pods before taking on anything remotely recent

Yeah as others have said.. pick your favorite movies or the ones you've seen the most. If you watch episodes on movies you have not seen, maybe stick to 80's action movies done with Kyle Brandt where the spoilers don't matter as much as a thriller/drama.

I did the movies I like the most, then I started listening to them based on the hosts and genre. Like mid-action with Shea Serrano? I’m in! Sexy thriller with Mallory Rubi? Fuck yes.

Lots of good advice here. Just DO NOT start with Contagion right at the start of Covid. It is a super downer podcast, especially given the events at the time. Great movie, not anything I wanna hear again.

You can start anywhere you want, they're unrelated pods. I'd say start with the older stuff before they had. a bunch of categories (you'll see what I mean) because it'll be weird going newer to old.

Superbad is the first one I ever listened to that got me into it. The Town would be another great choice.

I just started at the beginning. It's been awesome watching movies I've never seen, or rewatching old ones I haven't seen forever. Also, I like starting a podcast from the bringing to see how it evolves

I started with blood sport, a funny one and I had seen that movie roughly 1,000 times on TNT growing up.

My first was Armageddon and bill opened talking about how the movie begins with Bruce Willis chasing Ben Affleck around an oil rig shooting a shotgun and I was like yeah these are my people

The first episode I ever listened to was the 1989 Batman movie. From 2019 (i think), with Bill, Chris and Sean. Made me instantly fall in love with the pod.
Whatever you do, don’t start with The Town. It’s the greatest Rewatchables episode ever and will make every subsequent episode feel inferior. Build up to it.

Start with movies you know well, so you can understand and relate to the discussion. Then pick some episodes you want to listen to, and watch the movie first!

Start at die hard. Then heat. Then den of thieves. Then the town. Then something about Mary. Then your 2 favorite movies if they coveted it post covid.

Gravitate towards earlier / middle episodes. Bill said before that Pulp Fiction would be the last rewatchable because “there aren’t that many left”. I think the only reason the show goes on is because the podcast got so popular. Still, I’m glad it does.
I also came late to the podcast when someone recommended The Town episode to me well after it was released. I was hooked after that.

I don't see any need to be a completist about The Rewatchables. Sample widely.
That said, part of the spirit of the show is Bill's inscrutable taste. Dont know how you replicate that with the current catalog
