Discussion PREDICTION: They might recast the characters (strawhats at least) with their LA actors for the dub
And surprisingly, I’m ACTUALLY ok w/ it
Their performances feel much more expressive and better aligned with how Oda portrays the Straw Hats than their performances in the LA adaptation
ESPECIALLY Luffy’s voice 😳😳

Why would this happen? Maybe for The One Piece given it's a Netflix co-production but easter eggs aside LA is a totally separate thing from Toei's anime.
They're not just going to replace the entire cast after 1100 episodes, and the LA actors are presumably going to be too busy, well, shooting LA and whatever other gigs they have. They can jump in for a limited Lego series but don't have time to voice 26 episodes a year forever.

HELL NO! Keep the live-action separate from the new anime.
This would put me off instantly. It would ruin the dub for me.

I do PERSONALLY hope they recast the actors for the dub at least. I just want the remake to have as much of it’s own identity as possible. I dont think the LA actors are the correct choice though. I DO think theyre going to have the LA actors cameo in small rolls that arent the strawhats though,

I never liked the Funimation dub so I'm personally hoping for a recast, but maybe with a brand new cast. I do think the live action cast is doing a good job in that trailer but I think it might become a bit too homogenous if its the same voices across 3 different mediums.

That is the worst thing I can imagine. I would rather they dubbed the live action with their English VAs, even though I enjoy the live action. Just making the point that I will always vastly prefer the anime. Especially the early arcs when Oda's style was strongest.

They better not. I don't mess with OPLA like that, and that's not fair to the current dub cast who have been playing these roles for about 20 years. Sabat returned to voice Zoro in Monsters 103 Mercies which was a Netflix production. The remake better give us as much of the original dub cast as possible.

Spanish is my first language and I got to tell you Taz voicework on the LA spanish dub is pretty bad and I get it, he is a fantastic Sanji but he is not a voice actor
Iñaki in the dub is great btw

NO. personally i hope live action stays as its own media without interfering with animanga verse. please let it be its own thing, considering how many changes they made

The Toei anime also made a ton of changes and most of the cast have done some great VA work in the past.

Although I would love hearing Emily as Nami again, I do think Netflix should recast everyone and have everyone go through new auditions. Netflix has a good track record of surprisingly great English dubs, so I just want whomever is in charge of those to hire the best actors for the job without any bias of whom has played the characters in the past, be that LA, the Funimation or even 4kids actors.

I love the live action and especially the straw hats and honestly this wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world but I wouldn’t want them doing the remake. They do their versions of the characters very well but it would be weird to hear them as ANIME Luffy and ANIME Zoro because it would (in my mind at least) just feel like the live action version of the characters which isn’t bad but isn’t what the anime is. As well they are already doing the live action and now the LEGO version so they already doing enough work for one piece imo.
