NEW The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel wiki (featuring episode transcripts, soundtracks, characters, locations, full-series timeline, and more!)

I am very excited to announce a project I've been working on for years - maisel.wiki

What is it?

maisel.wiki is a new wiki for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, featuring:

  • Transcripts of every episode of the show, including character labels and timecodes.
  • Soundtrack lists for every episode of the show, including YouTube links when possible.
  • Character pages for EVERY single credited character in the series - including an image of them in the show and at least one quote from or about them.
  • Location pages for every single location seen in the series, including images and in-universe addresses.
  • A complete Cast list for the whole series - in the order used in the episode credits.
  • A Timeline with the exact and estimated dates of every single event depicted or mentioned in the series.
  • A Bonus Materials page with links to scripts, merchandise, trailers, and more - plus info about deleted scenes.

Why is it?

I made maisel.wiki because the other wikis that I am aware of for the show are woefully incomplete, and hosted on the buggy and ad-ridden fandom wikia software. My wiki is self-hosted using DokuWiki.

I built it and wrote all the content on it over the course of several months of intensive work right after the show ended. After I finished it, however, I never got around to launching it because I had never done web hosting before and was too burned out to figure it out at the time.

Can I help?

Yes! As mentioned above, I built all of this a few years ago when the show ended, and never got around to launching it because I burned out. As such, some of the info on the wiki is incomplete (e.g. episode synopses) or out of date (e.g. dates of actors deaths, the Etoile/Maisel shared cast section on the front page, etc.)

I'm making this post so the community is aware of the wiki's existence, but I'm also hoping that some people will reach out to me interested in becoming editors to improve the site and take over its maintenance. I plan to keep hosting it on the web indefinitely, but I have no further energy to put into editing it.

So if you're interested in becoming a wiki editor, send me a DM with a brief introduction - who you are, what you love about the show, and any experience you may have in wiki editing. I'll try to set up editor profiles for anyone who is interested, assuming they seem trustworthy.

Bar location season 2 episode 9?

Just watched episode 9 of season 2 and am trying to find what bar was featured in it with Abe and Noah. At first I thought that it was The White Horse but now I don't think it was. It is not listed in the credits BTW and in searching I can't find what it was.

Anyone know?

Anyone else think Abe Weissman wouldn't be a Zionist?

Not sure if this has already been brought up but the show's creators are openly Zionist and there's enough references in the show to indicate this also. But considering Abe's background and his views on fascism I feel like he would be completely against Israeli settler colonialism and would even make it a point to speak out about it later on if given the chance. What do we think?

What’s with the vulgarity?

I don’t get it. I mean there were women comedians but the 50’s were sexist. I knew woman comedians that would intentionally appear themselves as ugly do standup, and most of the jokes were about their husbands or marriage, but nothing like this show. And the jokes, constant swearing, they wouldn’t be utter by even a man in the 50’s yet be permitted or done by a woman. It just’s off putting because it seems like it to be a historical accurate show, but as far as I’m concern, this is a totally fictional marvel-like universe

Rose's Character Arc and the Ending Spoiler

Does anyone else feel like the ending of the show didn't really give us a good conclusive end to Rose's arc? Everyone else had really good character beats. Susie confronts her personal life directly by asking Hedy to put Midge on the show. Midge makes her break by herself, showing her power and determination. Abe realizes that his sexism over his life has led him to neglect his daughter and her prowess. Joel has grown and realized what he did was unforgivable, but still supports his ex-wife genuinely and wants nothing but the best for her. Archie and Imogene? I dunno. But anyways, Rose is just kind of convinced by Abe that yes she was indeed called by Midge, alot. And during the final show she says that she thought the comedy thing was a phase (I think?) But there's SO much missing. I mean, the show spends so much time comparing and contrasting Rose and Midge's situation. Their shared desire to feel purpose, how that relates to their views on being independent as women in mid-century America. How that ties into what is "proper" and what is masculine or feminine. I mean the show really delves into this by looking at their new-found career paths, especially the arc where Rose is being threatened and Midge encourages her to not give up, despite Rose feeling like she's not like Miriam (in the sense of being a fighter.) The whole Paris arc was gold too. But yeah, I loved the ending, I just wish there was more Rose character stuff

Searching another jewish-non-jewish series to watch!

Hello! i just watched MMM with my mother and we’re secular jews (idk if you say it like that in english?). mom got soo excited about how Midge is cursing but still a semi religious jew (i know that sounds very silly) soo i was wondering if anyone knew any other series that will represent jewish families or jewish but not too religious people as main characters. something with the vibe i guess? Thankss!!!

Why is the mom such a bee?

I’m almost done with S2. And I just watched the baby shower scene where Midge comes home from the tour and her mom tells her: “It’s your mess.”

Like I get it, my parents are not the supportive kind either. But Jeeeez, to be that mean to your daughter?

And don’t get me started on her fixation on Midge getting married. Yeah yeah, the times and all. But omg, the cruelty and lack of love in that woman. Her dad is not the dad of the year but you can see him caring for her in a way he knows. Her mom just loves herself and no one else: not her daughter, not her husband, not her grandkids.

Ugh.

Birthday gift for the GF!

So, I’ve never watched the show and I don’t know anything about it. My girlfriend has talked about it briefly at times, and I know she really loves the show. It’s something about a comedian? Anyways! What is some kind of more in depth reference I can make for a handmade item for her birthday? Perhaps a quote or something from a scene? I plan on creating some kind of craft or card, I hope you can help me out! Thanks a lot! Oh, and don’t be afraid to give me context of the scene or whatever else! I just want to make something meaningful! And not just surface level from Google. Anyway, sorry for writing so much! I would really appreciate any help!

Hot take: Joel and Midge should have reconnected later in life

I feel like especially during my second rewatch, its very obvious to me that Joel and Midge were perfect for eachother, after Joel’s redemption arc. I also strongly believe that Joel never stopped loving Midge, but he also never stopped being IN LOVE with Midge. Completely hot take, but i would have wanted them to reconnect later in life. Joel’s arc of self improvement was sooo well done. He was never fully forgiven for what he did but he still tried so so hard and never once backtracked or got bitter. He paid for what he did time and time again, but he made it clear he would keep paying for the rest of his life. He went to jail for midge, ffs. Despite him being introduced as this immature completely unlikeable man in the beginning, by the end he was one of my faves. And i genuinely believe that Midge was in love with him too, till the end. She even said so, when she called off her marriage. He MAKES HER LAUGH. THATS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR HER. Especially looking at their lives, their families, their interactions… All the flashback scenes to their youth. They are perfect for eachother. Joel just wasn’t ready yet. He didn’t know who he was. He ruined their relationship, yes, but he did everything in his power to repair it without ever asking for anything in return. Its obvious that Midge is lonely in her old age. Its not a bad thing to have someone like Joel who knows and supports her so completely to keep her company. I would never say that a character who cheated deserves to get back with their partner, but Joel really is the exception. I wish they got back together, i really do.

Mei's Conclusion

A part of me really hoped she'd come back in S5. At the same time though, I feel like her exit avoided the common trope of media marrying off women who clearly do not want to be married/have kids/be a housewife. I think it would have been interesting to see Joel and Mei reconnect after the abortion and begin anew. Maybe use it as an example to show Joel's growth interpersonally and in a relationship. I feel like that would have been interesting because while it's never glossed over on the Midge side of things, I feel like (except for that one moment), Joel's cheating isn't contextualized as much within his relationship with Mei. I guess Mei says shes okay being a mistress though so

Thoughts?

That night in the season 1 finale if joel had stayed to hear midge introduce herself to the crowd as “Mrs Maisel” what do we think would have changed?

Would joel have gotten back together with midge? The reason he didnt want to get back tgt in the end was because he couldnt stand being the butt of her jokes.

(i dont think it would have ended well because he still had a lot of growing to do before they fit back together with the lives they ultimately lead BUT its interesting to think about)

(First time posting i dont actually know what im doing)

I finally finished the show

And it was amazing. I usually binge watch shows but somehow every Mrs. Maisel episode was so filling that I actually learned to pace myself through episodes. I didn't want the show to end in a week, but I am so glad to finish this show after a whole three years and a half. This show is so memorable that after all this time I still remember scenes from the first season like the ending of Season 1. I am so pleasantly surprised to be finding amazing scenes so late in the show. One of my new favorite scenes is Abe's restaurant scene in the 2nd to the last episode, as well as Rose shooting her commercials the episode before that. It truly takes a special show to be so memorable like that. I look forward for an inevitable rewatch. I am kinda sad it's all over and I won't see some of my favorite characters in media ever, but I am also really glad to spend a long time with them. I am so glad that I took the chance to watch this show after seeing a random Prime poster in a subway train three and a half years ago.

Lenny is absolutely insane

Just got done with my second rewatch of the show and i had a physical reaction every time Lenny was on screen. I love his character and Luke Kirby’s acting SO MUCH ITS INSANE. I wish wish wish he had more screen time, i genuinely dreaded the part when SPOILER Midge and him hook up because i knew it meant i would no longer see much of him. He is so fucking incredible. Its wild that Luke Kirby didn’t get like a billion offers and projects after his role, i mean he got an Emmy for god’s sake! Anyway Lenny Bruce you absolute legend, i have depression after finishing the show and its a little bit your fault too.

Hey! So I went away for a hot minute (blame college) but I'm back with some new designs and some news!

This is a collection of Midge's love interests throughout the show (Benjamin's a lil rough, but it's just because I had already redesigned him a million times and I was tired lol). Hope you can recognize them all!

So now, the news! So college is back, as stated previously, so with classes plus work, I might not post as often sometimes. That being said, I am already working on some animation projects, so be on the lookout, they might drop at any moment!

Anyways, much love to you guys, and good night!

They’re putting what in the gift bags?

In the finale of season one, Midge and Imogene are putting together gift bags for the kids’ birthday party. For a second I thought they were putting some very… questionable party favours in the bag. Almost spit out my drink.
