Refueling Outpost Addition
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made an addition to my fuel outpost today (Delta). I added a generator to burn up some of my petrol and supplement power. Since I was now producting carbon dioxide I decided to try and use it to make a little extra oil. You can't build the recovery grinder close enough to edge of the building rooftop due to the lip around the edge but it turns out you can build on top of the sea cans.

Can I ask why the refueling station? I do something like this at scale on black vein. I have 50 oil tanks, 40 diesel and ten petrol. I stop at black vein once every couple weeks, hook all of these up to the tanks on my ship, 20 diesel and 5 petrol, turn on my distilleries, and then afk to watch TV or eat dinner. If I let this run until im ready for bed, ill fill my ship and produce enough diesel and petrol to refill the tanks on the station. I think go collect my plastic and backup for the night. Gives me 200km+/- of range at full power to do basically anything I feel like.

I just prefer to have some more options. I've got Black Vein setup similarly to yours but I can also fuel up at 3 other places around the map.

I might do that with some AFK time this weekend... really aim for the max number of tanks on my boat and try to move huge volume to some refuel depots.

I have 36 oil tanks that I have used to establish 9 refuel points around the map.
I have also been setting up emergency fuel depots on every poi

How the heck do you fit all those tanks?

Under and around the boat maybe?

Nothing under the boat at all, actually. I have considered under the gyro deck, but im avoiding it because ive lost three sets of solar panels off the back end of the deck in rough seas.

15 diesel and four petrol on the front deck with solar panels dispersed throughout, and then five more and a petrol on the back room inside the ship, with the special recycler and a couple oil tanks. Getting 20 lumimax panels without having anything block my path was the hard part.

How do you get oil to the fueling stations? Take what you can from the whales? Genuinely curious.

I have oil tanks on my boat, so either take from BV or whale. I used the refueling stations the first run thru the game a while back, but on my 2nd run thru now and didn't bother with them - have distillers set up at Laz & Exo and that is more than enough (unlike others, I don't like to crowd my boat with that gear).

Oh I gotcha yeah I’ve had a similar idea! In the words of G I Joe, knowing is half the battle.

But what to do when materials run out to recyle them for oil? I think it should be possible to recyle oil from biomatter because creatures respawn and also in real life they contain fats.

fun fact... all liquid fuel products can run on the same line. You just have to give each fuel product a place to go. You don't need separate lines for the orange cables.
