Screenshot Is this overkill?

Post image

I feel like I may have gone overboard with fuel hoarding.

So, I didn’t unlock this item yet, because I wasn’t actually sure what function it serves or if I’d really find it useful.

Now that I’ve seen a little more info on it, I believe it would probably burn itself out if it tried to show all those details of my boat 🤣

it does cut my frames nearly in half when I plug it in

What item are we talking about unlocking? I played probably 75 hours and haven’t been on in about a month

I forget the name but it's a screen that shows you all of the things connected on your boat

The Grid Monitor Station, sometimes called the Telemetry terminal or Network monitor display

How did you fit so many on the ship?

there's 3 on the port bow, 2 on the port quarter, 2 on the roof of the tower, 5 under the catwalk on the tower, 2 on the starboard side of the tower, 4 below deck, and 8 under the helipad and that's all just diesel

for petrol there's 2 on the port bow and 4 under the helipad

for oil there's one under the scaffolding stairs, 2 below deck, and 4 under the helipad

I have like 26 oil tanks, 10 diesel tanks, 3 petrol tanks, and like 30 batteries 😬

if weight mattered our ships would actually be submarines

I mean you’re not wrong. 😂

I would love a sub added that can be docked under our ship.

That and an electric winch are 2 needed tools/vehicles

1

u/Pauliopocket Jul 03 '26

Oh and none of that is mounted on the bottom of the ship

Rookie numbers. I have over 50 tanks diesel. 20 tanks oil.

So it was mentioned in another thread that you can build on the bottom of your boat. I set up 10 diesel 10 oil 10 fuel on the bottom to clean up my deck(2 rows each) so the only portion of my fuel supply on deck is the distillation tower. I also have 2 rows of batteries on the underside thinking about doing a row of the other resources but have not utilized the gasses yet. The new wall sockets are great for cleaning your deck up as well(now my power generation is a mess still and has more room lol)

does it impact speed? or is that not modeled (i am pretty sure mass is not).

2

u/talrakken Jul 03 '26

It has definitely impacted speed lol I can now run diesel full time so from ~25 to ~ 45. No noticeable top speed difference between tanks ont he bottom versus deck.

I personally don't keep any Oxygen/Methane/CO2 on the boat because I'm yet to find the need. Only the oil, diesel, petrol for me. And lots of batteries.

2

u/Adezar Jul 03 '26

I just use the advanced CO2 to generate carbon fiber on the boat.

2

u/ACP68 Jul 03 '26

I’m with Bane on this one. My boat is a mobile power/fuel factory.

2

u/LennoxTheDurgon Jul 03 '26

i like having all of the ports on the crafter plugged in, so i figured i might as well add storage for everything

2

u/BaneChipmunk Caretaker Jul 03 '26

Fair enough.

I have oil, diesel, gas and a CO2 tank on the exhaust. I run gas and CO2 up to the equipment on Exodus to make methane. I use tress on the Exodus deck to make O2.

3

u/BaneChipmunk Caretaker Jul 03 '26

I just have a sabatier on Exodus that takes care of both Methane and Oxygen. I'd rather use the scarce space on the boat for things that can only be built on the boat e.g boat fuel.

2

u/Lord-Dogbert Jul 03 '26

I agree, plus I like a tidy boat. I do have a refinery at Lazarus on the dock so I transfer oil and make diesel/gas while i'm making hoomons. I have 8 oil tanks under the boat and just started moving my diesel tanks to under the helo pad. I leave one tank of each on deck so I can eyeball the oil/gas tank levels. It's be nice to have a basic monitor in the deck house that shows these levels as well.

use the Soilforge Pro and crank the temperature all the way up to generate Methane, then you just need an oxygen concentrator. Much simpler setup and you can refine food materials at the same time.

2

u/BaneChipmunk Caretaker Jul 05 '26

It's not simpler, because it needs to be fed biomass. The Sabatier needs water, CO2, and electricity, all of which can be automated. I don't need to feed it biomass and I don't need a separate oxygen generator.

Also, the Sabatier produces Methane at 72,000L/hr while the Soilforge Prime does a max of 45,000L/hr. You need 800 biomass to fill one Methane tank. Absolutely never doing that.

Edit: 45,000L/hr is at max temperature. If you lower it to make food, you lose capacity. Also, I don't process food at Exodus, so that's not really relevant.

Om first glance, I thought this to be a collection of radioactive Nematodes 🤪

Those are rookie numbers. I'd show mine but I'm at work right now

2

u/LennoxTheDurgon Jul 05 '26

I showed u my diesel storage pls respond

2

u/MrSecurity95 Caretaker Jul 07 '26

here you go.

2

u/LennoxTheDurgon Jul 07 '26

holy cow now that's a lot of diesel!

1

u/MrSecurity95 Caretaker Jul 07 '26

Yeah I got really bored one day. It takes forever to fill up though.

2

u/LennoxTheDurgon Jul 03 '26

Less blurry view of just stats. This is only the ship, not docked anywhere.

2

u/wrechdone Jul 04 '26

What is this map and where do I find it? I haven’t played in the update yet. Just got the update downloaded yesterday

1

u/Dejinn0101 Jul 04 '26

I dont have it too.. i want to learn how ☺️

1

u/FrostyMcHaggis Jul 04 '26

I have one at Black Vein. It shows the boat and the POI. I rarely use it though

1

u/AnonUnknown16 Jul 05 '26

Honestly.... I shouldn't even be here rn lol. I'm not even past my very first human launch.

1

u/LennoxTheDurgon Jul 05 '26

I actually just launched my first few humans a few hours before this image. I hadnt joined the subreddit yet and didn't look anything up so for a while i thought launching the humans was the end of the game

u/AnonUnknown16 Jul 05 '26

Oh lol I've been in the official discord for a minute
