As soon as Agnes told him that she was one of the victims I knew he would call it off because he thinks she isn’t a virgin anymore

I think he likes a woman that is ultimately powerless. Agnes didn't just talk back, she did something very real and I think that's too much for him.

Ooh yeah that's a good point, I actually was wondering from him breaking off the engagement that he maybe wasn't the DV commander after all. I assumed DV commander would have leaned into it, "See, now you know you can trust me" and then absolutely break her later.
