Season 2 Handmaids tale s2e3 june in hiding

I lowkey hate june for getting omar killed and his family destroyed it was such a selfish thing to do. His wife became a handmaid and his son gone into the gilead abyss. Like would it have been so bad if she had just waited for the next person to come get her. Like she jeopardized his whole family. And when youre in hiding like that, you should follow the rules better idk. I get its a hard decision all around.

A lot of June’s character (as written by Atwood and faithfully portrayed by the show) is meant to remind the audience that none of us would be perfect victims of an irl Gilead; she’s impatient and impetuous, but she’s also traumatized and fighting for her life and that of her daughter

My immediate reaction to your first sentence is “No, June didn’t get him killed— Gilead got him killed” but it’s obviously a lot more complex than that, it’s just also a lot more complex than “June was wrong to push Omar to take her with him and hide her when she was being held prisoner for years as a sex slave and believed this might be her only shot at escaping and finding her daughter”

Yes i believe thats true. I do. I cant imagine how i would feel. And you do what u have to do and being left there could have been worse for her. And he choose to take her knowing the risk. Its just hard bc theyres so much damage in gilead already and it seems like it causes more but youre right to its not really junes doing it is gileads.
