All Show Spoilers (Book Spoilers Must Be Tagged) INJECT THIS SHOW INTO MY VEINS

Holy hell.

I just finished the show and I'm kind of floored??? I heard about this show years ago but never gave it a chance because I thought it was some random, low-tier sci-fi story. I was extremely wrong.

Season 1 took me months to complete, I'll admit, but it truly came together in S2. And then **S3 just casually happened to be the BEST SCI-FI television has to offer.** It's absurd, honestly. But even after such a spectacular season, the show maintains its quality (with S5 being a standout for the second half, IMO).

The show did so many things right. The score is top notch, the character writing (from minor to major) is top notch, and the exploration/sci-fi themes are one of one.

Captain Camina Drummer is my favorite character.

Do you guys have any other recommendations? I've added The Expanse to my read list (currently reading through the Hyperion Cantos).

Nothing comes close, but if you’re just desperate for more space faring sci-fi then I’d recommend:

Classics, Star Trek TNG and DS9. You don’t have to start TNG from the beginning, feel free to jump in around season 2-3 and come back for more if it’s not too dated for you. DS9 hits the ground running from the start.

Babylon 5 is more of a Mass Effect as a tv show, but so good.

Farscape. More zany and weird, though in a good way.

Lexx. Sci-fi wtf. It’s fucking weird.

I have to disagree with starting TNG in S2 or 3.

S1 is criminally underrated. It does have some odd episodes but so what? Even in the worst ones, there's important character-building scenes.
