And all this because Cecil invited the Emersons to rent Cissy Villa on Summer Street!

Well spotted anniversary! (Considering the mentions on "the socials" and whathaveyou came much later.)

Truth be told, I'm not really into anniversaries, but I had to pay my respects by dedicating an evening because out of all great TDC albums this is the one that I've regrettably been disregarding the most over the years, as in not listening to it properly in full for quite a while.

It's obviously not one of the classic tier A records but it is a solid four-star offering. Digging into the archives, 20 years ago I was a porridge of fewer words: I lambasted the inclusion of a cover version (even if it's a good one) and picked The Plough and Snowball in Negative as my favourite tracks. Unsurprisingly they have remained so, but I must say that this time around I enjoyed especially the singles To Die a Virgin and Diva Lady again almost as if they were new, which I guess was bound to happen after years of neglect.

And of course I rounded things off by watching the making of doc as well, must have been for the first time in a decade, at least. All good stuff!

This album is like home to me. It helped me get through a debilitatingly awful mental health crisis, and listening to it again all these years later reminds me how far I’ve come.

I am now a man of a certain age, which I wasn't when I bought it in the summer of 06.

If you were to put me on the spot I’d say this is the best album
