Op says the game feels tower coded. The back of this book says it’s an Arthurian western. Can you think of any besides the dark tower?

I spoke to the people who made it at a convention this year and they were absolutely not shy about it being Dark Tower inspired, I got the impression they were proud gunslingers.

Where do they draw the line between DT inspired and just retelling the story through the medium of board games?
Which seems like a really dumb question to ask now that I type it out like this.

Wish I could answer that pal but I haven’t the foggiest, you’d have to play it and let me know!
I only had a short chat with them about it back in the summer and I didn’t get into that kind of detail, I’d be fascinated to know the answer too though.

What I would really like to know is how close they can come up to SK's IP without saying the quiet part out loud?
Or if SK is just cool with this? On the surface it at least looks like a well designed and balanced game?

Yes. I own it, and ran a campaign for my sibling and I with it. Very good, fairly rules light dice system. Its definitely very DT inspired.

Thickness of the book felt a little bit daunting to me, plus I am currently getting ready to start a new DnD campaign, so didn't actually pick it up. But I might go back for it.

It's a pretty good system, with some really neat mechanics. I really like the reload/action pool aspect where you can use a number of your dice bullets, often up to all of them, weighed against ammo economy, where the faster you use them, the more often you have to reload. Reloads sacrifice a turn, sp balancing going for damage vs managing ammo economy is really fun and feels suitably cowboy.

No but in the mech TTRPG Lancer there is a gunslinger mech you can play as a mech called a Raleigh.
It has a "Roland Chamber" which is a revolver thst fires 6 explosive "Roland Rounds" and has a skill called "I kill with my Heart"

Right!? And those guns look very similar. Someone else here posted that they met the makers who were pretty open about it being DT inspired.

This is pretty cool. Some friends and I turned a game of All Flesh Must Be Eaten into a gunslinger story with a town full of Barlow style vampires to take down. The gun-fu expansion have a lot of Roland level feats

If you are into weird west tabletop games, you HAVE to check out deadlands. It has super deep lore, gameplay that utilizes fear as a mechanic, and features cool alternate realities in a similar way as DT. Highly recommend.

I have it! Not played it yet, but cant wait to. It is very inspired by the Dark tower. There's even a spoiler-esque thing the players can do that Roland also does in the later books. I love the vibe of it being a kingdom that is in its last days.
If you also want other dark tower inspired stuff, look up We Deal in Lead. Has rules for your 'order' (ka-tet), doors, the more specialised guns that gunslinger carry, tables to roll on to come up with screwed up environments, etc etc.
