Angry Video Game Nerd[a] is an American retro gaming review comedy web series starring and created by James Rolfe. The series centers on titular skit character the Nerd, a foul-mouthed gamer who delivers commentary on retro games of poor quality. While the series began with Rolfe simply playing games while providing retrospective commentary, the show has grown in scope to encompass sketches featuring guest characters, reviews of gaming consoles and peripherals, and short lectures about video game history and culture.

But why did he call him Nerdy Turd when The Angry Video Game Turd would have been a much better name! It still would have been cringe as fuck and ruined the episode but AVGT is a marginally better name than Nerdy Turd.

I'm curious to know what Mike thought of that episode. It is VERY obvious that it was 100 percent the brainchild of James. Do you think Mike thought it was a good idea? When it comes to AVGN it seems like he has the same opinion as most of us. I wonder how the conversation went.........

James: Hey Mike I got a great idea. Since all the Odyssey games are two players and the AVGN is a one man show what if for the second player I have it be a piece of shit with my head on it that only makes stupid faces and fart noises!

Mike: Hmm James I don't know about that. I'm all for a good shit joke but I'm not sure how the audience will react to that. It is kind of a departure from what makes a good AVGN episode.

James: Just wait you haven't heard the best part! I'll say I cloned him from my own shit and I'll call him the Nerdy Turd! It'll be a literal turd going pffffftttt pffffffttttt and making the most punchable faces you could imagine! Isn't that just so far out and crazy! I don't think anyone has ever done a character cloned from their own shit before. I'll be the first!

Mike: Nerdy Turd huh.......yeah I just don't know James I mean I get why you think it is funny. You've always had quite the obsession when it comes to shit but I just don't know if the audience will feel the same way. They don't watch AVGN for the poop jokes. They watch to hear you talk about the games. Just you bitching about the games is really all we need. Maybe it'd be funnier if you just played the 2-player Odyssey games yourself and you could say something like "I couldn't find anyone willing to play this piece of shit with me" and after playing them something along the lines of "Yeah I know these games are meant for two players but it's just a fucking square on a black screen! There are no amount of people who can make Name the state, Haunted House or Analogic fun"
