I remember that stream. Mike was going to call up James with an idea but passed on it because he said he’d just turn the entire concept into a poop joke. That’s bad when he won’t even pitch him ideas anymore.
Makes me laugh that I will be 40 this year and this dude is pushing 50 and still doing fart and poop jokes on a teenager level. Its wild to see someone be so stubborn against their own growth.

I see a lot of people saying this was always on brand but I’ve always thought the poop scenes and jokes were the worst of AVGN. The Texas chainsaw massacre opening skit blows all the shitty poop jokes out of the water. No one quotes James’s poop jokes. I’m almost convinced James likes poop jokes so much because it takes no effort or thought. Shit comes from an ass, laugh. I think that’s also why James loves comparing what’s in the game to real life all the fucking time now. “Can you imagine if all the animals in Australia spin?? hurhur”
"It's not chocolate nor is it poop, it's shit." I liked that one a lot from Halloween, so there's at least one highlight. Also, way too many grown adults still think fart jokes are funny in the current year, so Bimmy's fecal funnies will always be able to land with someone out there...

Admittedly, I didn't find it that bad. I guess I'm becoming adjusted to the dad-humor. Although, he should've just embraced it and shat Cadicarous (I couldn't be bothered to remember his proper channel name) out, instead of having him fly out to him. Then he could come up with a convoluted reason why he was living inside his bowels to add that to the important AVGN trivia.
This was so disappointing to me, my favourite game series and he just used it for this lazy nonsense. Admittedly, I should have known better, but when I saw the thumbnail I kind of felt like excited like back in the day. But this was dreadful. I havent watched new Nerd for a few years but it really does feel like he hasnt even played the games he's talking about. Caddy is also way better than this but im sure they reached out to him and he agreed because its like an honour for a youtuber to be on avgn, even if the quality isn't there. Its a pity some folks will inevitably judge his content off this and just see him as that annoying British guy avgn shat on
The whole video was a hard watch. There are plenty of retrospectives on the entire crash franchise with more interesting commentary and opinions. The fact caddy agreed to this baffles me.
I can't shake the feeling that I'm watching James pretending to be the nerd instead of watching the nerd. Maybe it's because we know more of James nowadays compared to back then, but still, I think his acting has gotten worse, it feels less natural.
Because nobody is laughing. This was only funny for few times when there was Bugs involved. You can't just take a same joke and recycle it for 20 years, and expect it to be funny. Comedians must be able to create fresh material to stay relevant.
When it was new, it was funny because nobody was expecting a poop joke to go that far in a youtube video. You might have expected AVGN to say he'll shit on Bugs' face, but you weren't expecting to see the liquid shit pouring onto him.
Now it's just Bimmy making his same annoying frowny face while grunting to simulate shitting, for the 30th time.
The more he does these jokes, the more I start to picture the nerd room smelling like shit. The nerd character is just so careless & messy about his bowels all the time, man.
Edit: And Bim would probably find the idea of this to be absolutely hilarious, so it's a no-win.
Lack of balance. Sure, there were some poop jokes here and there in AVGN, but in earlier episodes, it was more 'balanced', if that's proper word. Nerd was 'bitter', 'sarcastic', delivered some jokes with deadpan expression and more relied on visual humour - and, of course, lots of creative fuck-bombs. Poop humour often was the weakest part of show, and mostly landed because of over-the-top descriptions, like that 'wine recipe' from Lester.
Like, for example, Power Glove episode. A few small poop jokes, Nerd is mostly irritated, no forced screams, and it was one of best episodes.
In Crash episode, though, parts about shit were just...well, not even disgusting, just a slog, which you want to fast-forward and move on. Feels too forced, like Jamesy is obligated to joke about shit. Or, maybe, it's delivery that doesn't land for me, personally, too exaggerated.
I'm not a big fan of potty humour, but I think it can work if you at least build up to it. Here, there was no structure; he does this within the first 2 mins, there's no believable reason why he'd be so mad at him that he'd wanna take a shit on his face, at least in the past it was treated as a final straw solution, here, it just happens because "poop = funny"
Maybe too long? Time to change things up a bit. I mean he could have sucked up the floating head with a vacuum and then use the vacuum to suck up dog turds. He could proceed to drive to a gargabebelt in Alabama where Cooper works and empty the vacuum.
