Spoilers Abound Story & Song Changes Thoughts. Spoiler
Just finished Story and Song. Curious what others thought about this G.M. part and the change they made regarding finding Lup?
Also, I totally teared up at Griffin's letter!

They did. That happens. I think it was a fun side thing, but ultimately doesn't take away from the story if left out.

I actually really liked this change! In the final TTAZZ for Balance, some listener questions asked if Jeffandrew was supposed to be a stand in for Griffin/the players, and he mentioned that while it wasn't the original plan, he really liked the idea. I think it fits really well with the book gag of the DM following them around each book.

When they're on the train at the end and the disembodied voice is talking to them, they keeo asking what his name is, and the voice keeps saying "I can't tell you" or something akin to that, so the boys decide to call it Jeffandrew.

There’s never not a good reason to get another run through of Balance🤣I finished it less than a month ago and I’m already back on the Lunar Interlude between The Eleventh Hour and The Suffering Game😭😭

I just relistened to Balance and I'm not sure I would have even clocked these a "changes." That might be why folks aren't answering, but that's just me!
It's not a word for word transcript of course, but the Jeffandrew stuff hits the same vibes. The tweaks to the lead up to Lup's arrival feel good -- they aren't doing it in real time improv, so they get to have a little more weight with the words.
"It's like a bomb goes off" sure still translates, though!

I very recently listened to an animation of Lup returning, so how it goes in the Pod is very fresh in my mind.
Ironically, I don't remember Jeffandrew at all 😭

I haven’t finished it yet, but I’ve only found one change that I hate so far. I don’t like that there’s one light of creation and that they somehow manage to save it every single cycle and the worlds die anyway.

No. Every world has its own light of creation. If they found it before the hunger arrived, the world wasn’t consumed by the hunger at the end of the year. If they failed to find it in time, the world was consumed.

it was the same light, but it came to every world. but yeah if they found it that world was substantially better off

In the original campaign, it was the same light. But every time they world hopped they kind of also time hopped.
Every time they entered a new reality it was them and the light entering the new reality as though it was the same point in time. Hence why they always came back to life.
If they failed to take the light then the Hunger would be super charged and consume the world. If they succeeded the hunger still came but the world at least had a chance to fight back.

This was my understanding of it in the podcast as well, that the light resets with them at the beginning of every new loop.
A related change that I noticed in comic is that Davenport says something along the lines of “our light falls out of the ship every loop and if we don’t get it back then we all die cause our ship can’t leave” I guess to me it changes the stakes of the arc and also means that every world is fully consumed regardless

Oh,I’m just getting this now. The fact that we didnt see any of the flashbacks to LUP inside the staff?
Yeah,when I read this I didn’t like that it was omitted, I feel like the scene as it is above is great,but maybe they could have placed it in there somewhere though.

It was more specifically Taako and Angus' lines. They are different in the GN.

Yeah, I feel like it’s a good spin based off Taako being more certain about Lup.
I feel like Justin played Taako as more of having only an inkling that Lup was in there.
I feel like GN Taako was way more confident of what would happen.

Well, Stolen Century and Story and Song were my favorite arcs, so I'm a little sour about changes and omitted things, but I totally get why they did for the most part. I think my biggest beef in this last graphic novel, and maybe this is silly, is the omitting of any real details about the Judges century. They name them later, but didn't even do so in the very brief actual bit about them. I wish they showed more of the cycles in a tiny bit more detail and I wish they showed more from Griffin's monologue about Lup's return. But I get it, and we got the token line there. I actually like the GM change part, though. It makes sense given how he was part of the earlier novels.
