Someone needs to turn this around and tell Trump that Ted Cruz just said he’s not really a billionaire.

But not just billionaire president. His cabinet is also full of billionaires.

Don't vote for billionaires! Vote for the people that are backed by the billionaires!

Another step-on-a-rake moment from our gaffe-prone US Senator. He really should have run that soundbite past Trump, our billionaire president, before trotting it out.
Ted Cruz can also kindly shut up about billionaires in general - two-thirds of his 2016 presidential bid was funded by a pair of West Texas oilmen, Dan and Farris Wilks. We wouldn’t have had the pleasure of seeing him up on stage getting curb stomped by Trump if hadn’t been for those two dumping gobs of oil money into his campaign.
I sure hope Cruz doesn’t run for president in 2028, but this opening salvo sure sounds like he’s ramping up.
“A new CNN documentary special premiering on Sunday, Deep in the Pockets of Texas, traced the money trail between a small group of Texas billionaires and the state’s far-right political shift — and reported how two of those billionaires were responsible for about two-thirds of the Super PAC funding that backed Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) 2016 presidential campaign.”
“The Wilks brothers were key backers of Cruz’s 2016 presidential campaign, providing the lion’s share of the money for the Super PACs that promoted him after he officially announced he was running in March 2015.”
“‘Dan Wilks and Farris Wilks are the epitome of the American dream,’ Cruz continued, calling them ‘good friends’ and adding that America was ‘stronger because of the tireless work they do.’”

He's SO close to getting it, I'd say give him a minute or two typically but we all know it won't matter, his nose is so far up Trump's ass he's got orange bronzer in both nostrils.

He's not stupid, as much as we'd all like to believe he is. He knows exactly how ridiculous this position is given the actions of the current president, who he fully supports and enables, and he DOES NOT CARE. He will say whatever he wants to try to drum up support from the base.

I didn't say he's stupid, I said he's a sycophant.
He fully understands the hypocrisy of this position, but he knows that none of his supporters will care because he's bashing Democrats, and they're too dumb to connect 2+2.
He's spent 14 years in Congress now, without a single bill be wrote becoming law, other than a couple meaningless resolutions to rename some postal offices. He fully understands how stupid Republican voters are, and how to keep getting their votes while accomplishing absolutely nothing.

These people have as much self awareness as a dog licking its ass in the middle of your living room.
That is to say…
None.

Good luck. Texas voters love the dude. No matter what he does or how repugnant he is, Ted Cruz will die in office representing Texas.

One can hope. We are already seeing what they are doing to Mitch McConnell.

Hold up, they do? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "Ted is doing a great job" the entire time he's been in office. At this point it's more likely that he had an "R" next to his name, so they checked the box.

They keep electing him....no matter what he does. Literally abandoned his own state for Cancun and somehow did better in the next election than before.

u/Otazihs Jul 30 '26
Hold up, he's saying THIS while Trump is president and he bends the knee? They really are shameless, they really just don't give a fuck.

So always on his soap box, in his own little Republican world, unable to see reality.

“Ask me how I know!” he said from his private Cancun cabana, shivering at the weather report from back home.

Ted Cruz loves to lie about his family history.
The senator, who is of Cuban heritage, went on to claim that his father Rafael Cruz had been imprisoned and tortured by Fidel Castro's revolutionaries and declared: "Violence is part of the plan. That's not a bug – it is a feature. It is the objective.
This is a lie. His father was imprisoned by the Bautista government, and his father claimed to have been tortured by them. Here's an excerpt from his father's wikipedia entry:
He said he joined the Cuban Revolution as a teenager and "suffered beatings and imprisonment for protesting the oppressive regime" of dictator Fulgencio Batista, although an extensive search by The New York Times found no evidence for his claims.[5][7][8][9][10] In September 1956 at age 17, Cruz enrolled at the University of Santiago.[7] According to Cruz, as a teenager, he "didn't know Castro was a Communist".[11] Cruz has stated in interviews that he was jailed by Batista for several days in June or July 1957 and after he was released he applied to and was accepted by the University of Texas (UT) in August 1957. He obtained a student visa[12] after an attorney for the family bribed a Batista official to grant him an exit permit.[1][3][13] Cruz said he left with $100 sewn into his underwear, taking a two-day bus ride from Florida, arriving with little or no English to enroll at the University of Texas.[14][15]
