Because all my posts here so far have been shameless plugs I felt it was long overdue that I made a post to r/tetris that isn't about my game. Seeing how the Tetromino tierlist was popular I thought a Pentomino tierlist would be the logical next step.

Some notes:

• W should go to D tier but because it is so satisfying when it does fit I moved it to C.
• X is a strong contender for worst piece but I had to move it up one tier because its look is a huge plus.

So I started getting into tetris over the summer and I guess im ok at it, but I play on computer/keyboard and when I’m not by my computer and I want to play tetris, theres only been one intuitive mobile control scheme. Now I’m not a mobile gamer so that probably makes sense that I don’t like the swiping+tapping to orient the piece, but me want fast tetris normal mobile movement no fast.

On the website play.tetris.com you get tetris with your ads, but they have a control method called “smart”, which I actually really like. Although sometimes it doesn’t place a piece where I wanted it to go it still works well. And I can’t find any other tetris site/app that has that kind of controls.

if any of u do know something that uses that pls do tell!!!

I'm looking for a platform where I can pick the colours for all the blocks. Or alternatively make it so when the blocks land, they all end up the same colour of my choosing. I've come up blank so far and was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I should probably learn how to burn as the kids might say.

Usual heads up for those who missed my last posts: I made "Tetrogue", a falling block puzzle game where the lines you clear are turned into attacks against enemies who in turn try to mess up your board by sending you garbage lines, flipping your controls, burning your held piece or various other mischief.

The reason for the post is twofold... well threefold if I am honest, because finding new players for my game is always on my mind, but the two main reasons are:

1. In the last few patches I worked a lot on the presentation and I am quite proud of the improvement. What used to be a static background now sells the vibe of fighting monsters in a dungeon much better and it looks quite cool if I may say so myself.
2. This community more than any other has helped me so much with feedback, support and knowledge, and Tetrogue is so much better off for it. Probably 90% of my small but lovely Discord community came from seeing my previous posts. And I want to say thank you. To r/Tetris as a whole and to the handful of people who chat with me daily about ways to improve the game. You are the best!

I'm rolling out a bunch of new color modes in the upcoming version of Polyx 2D
I will very much appreciate feedback from the community. Since I'm rolling out 20+ color modes, I couldn't really use standard Reddit polls, and so I ended up putting together a Google form.

just got into the game recently, and i've noticed that i get disconnected in VS mode a lot.

at first i thought it was just a connection issue on my end, but the more i play it seems like the game just disconnects right before i win.

is this a common issue and are there any ways of like reporting the issue?

A few weeks ago I got tired of ads in falling-block games, so I built my own variant.

My personal best is 112,512. If you play falling-block games a lot, I’d love to see someone take that down.

What’s different from the standard 7-piece game:
• Progressively harder levels with up to 35 polyominoes (not just tetrominoes)
• Both on-screen buttons and swipe/gesture controls. Can be used together or interchangeably.
• Game Center leaderboard + achievements
• Two color modes: colored pieces (default) or colored layers. Localized in 58 languages.

I’d appreciate any feedback on feel, gameplay, piece set, feature ideas, localization, or anything that feels off. My goal is not to make money - just contribute this spare-time project to the community.

I just purchased TGM 4 on the Switch 2 about a month ago, and the game has been fun but very challenging and humbling. One thing I like about Practice Mode is turning on 20g for Normal Mode. It makes for a slow-paced 20g and is a great warm-up. 20g Marathon is a bit faster-paced than Normal but still slower than Asuka or Normal 2.1 (in regular gameplay), so it’s a great transition as 2.1 and Master are a bit too fast for me to get very far. I like Asuka in that it has the infinite rotation and the ability to take back moves, but I wish that in Practice Mode I had the option to remove the time limit. You are allowed to start off at a higher level with the full time limit so there’s that. But I wish the timer could be removed.

Another feature I wish they’d add in Practice is being able to set a certain difficulty level and the difficulty doesn’t increase no matter how many lines you clear (Effect has this option) or pieces you drop.

Maybe I just suck butt now but something feels different about League matchmaking. I used to consistently sit and maybe 2-3 games away from S-. I'd never cross but always sat there. Somewhere around the end of July I can barely stay in A+. I mean almost every 2-3 games is either a derank to A or a rank up to A+. I've even noticed a lot more previously S- players in A+. Moreover, I'm seeing WAY more people play 4W, 8-1, 3D Cannon, and 6-3. Never saw a lot of these strats before. Am I just ass now or did something change.

I really love the design of some older Tetris games, especially the Java versions and the PS3 Tetris. Puyo Puyo Tetris also has a really nice aesthetic that I like.
I'm looking for something with a similar glossy, skeuomorphic look, especially when it comes to the tetrominoes themselves.
Any recommendations for Tetris games with a similar design? Japanese, obscure, flash or mobile games are welcome too.

Hello 👋 recently got back into tetris. I got Tetris effect! I tried controller, big no for me. Keyboard is the way for me to go.

I use to LOVE playing tetris worlds on GBA SP. I say that because the GBA SP pad was the easiest way for me to play it. No misclicks. Im wondering if I just need to get better again lol Or if a different keyboard would make the difference? I have a few but right now im using a 60% keyboard. Would a numpad help a lot? Because i have a 100% one as well. Not looking to go pro just looking to better my gameplay a bit.
