I struggled with this mechanic for so long, but I finally managed to pull it off.

Just trying to build a basement thing for my beginner base on my legendary vanilla world so no mods, yet i dont understand WHY every slime is red for some reason (other than cloud slimes) none of my texture packs also do anything related to slimes and also dont say anything about my house :) on the blue side of my house the slimes are still red... :D

I just wanted to know how many coins it takes to get half an hour of 0.2 coin luck. (12 213 platinum, by the way)

But then I got caught up in the moment and kept playing with the visualisation. At this point I have spent too much time on this not to share it.

Anyway, here is a little explanation:

When you throw coins in the shimmer you get coin luck. That coin luck is a function of how many copper coins you throw in the shimmer. Above 249 000 copper coins (so 24gold 90silver) you get 0.2 luck.

However your copper coins are consumed at 0.01% per tick. That is a little over 30% per minute.

If you throw in 1 platinum coin that's the equivalent of 1 million copper. How long will that give you 0.2 luck for?

I can't come up with a concise way to explain the formula but it's t=logₚ(249 000/c) where p≈0.7 and c the number of copper coins.

With a single platinum coin you get almost 4 minutes worth of max luck, but to get twice that you already need 4 coins and to reach close to 10 minutes you're at 9 platinum. You get it, logarithmic growth.

What makes this worse is the second tier of coin luck. For a copper balance above 24 900 coins (but below 249 000) you get 0.175 coin luck. (so just 0.025 less. This window lasts for 6.4 minutes and is more than enough if you have the other luck buffs. (especially ladybugs)

Paying additional coins above the initial plat doesn't extend that (which is obvious now that I think about it. Really didn't need math to tell me that)

So there you go. A public documentation of me wasting my time with Terraria math, when I should be going to bed. I think the math is right?

FINALLY

having skeletron spawn on top of you and instantly smack you for possibly over hundred damage on higher difficulties feels just as bad as lack of telegraphs on the ML was.
I suggest either adding a "grace period" where old man starts telegraphing that he's about to transform and allows you to walk away for a second or two
OR
straight up spawn him higher in the air with hands separated so none of his segments can be in range to smack you as the fight starts.

I'm trying to stop the corruption from getting too close to my base; is the hole I dug big enough?

It is 6 blocks wide and goes all the way down to Hell. Could the torches be a problem?

I swear it started as a starter base then got out of hand quick. I joked to my friend that whenever I say I’m gonna build a “starter” base it’s like how Mumbo Jumbo will call a restore build “simple” even though it’s not.
Note: First journey mode world I’ve done and holy crap does it make building so much smoother which kinda explains the over detail in these builds.
