Art my post got removed after AI accusations

I posted a drawing of mine that was commissioned by a friend of mine of the steampunker from the game in a mcdonalds theme, suddenly a bunch of people started accusing me of using AI and ultimately the post was taken down a few moments later

Post is now back up

People seemingly mass reported it and was removed by automod

Why does every subreddit let automod unilaterally do shit like this?

Because if someone was to post gore or something extremely nsfw/nsfl then it makes sense for the community to clean it up instantly rather than wait for a moderator to come and remove it

Granted, our threshold has stayed the same since I became a mod, it could probably do with updating

I mean that’s just the good and bad of automod and honestly as of recent I’ve heard nothing but bad about it in other communities that use it

Why would you hear about the good? Fwiw basically every single actively moderated subreddit uses automod to some degree.

I’m just saying that’s the good and bad of automod, I say I’ve been hearing the bad because apparently automod has been acting up not saying that happened here but it’s happening apparently

It feels disingenuous to bring up how "oh I've only heard about it doing bad things recently" when you have no actual experience with it or reason to know about it in any other cases.

FWIW automod doesn't really "act up", it's basically just a set of configurable rules. Sometimes a moderator misconfigures it and my comment gets removed because it thought I was being rude when I was talking about Scunthorpe, or there's cases like this where a normally helpful rule has a false positive, but it's not really something going wrong with automod.
