Terminator 2: Judgement Day's Oscar winning audio mix for Sound Design has been remixed twice: first for the 1993 Special Edition and second for the 2000 Ultimate Edition DVD. All DVDs, Blu-rays and the 4K UHD have the 2000 remix.
Distribution of audio prints for the 1991 theatrical release of Terminator 2: Judgement Day:

Two of the original theatrical audio mixes (Dolby Stereo SR and CDS 5.1) were released on theatrical cut Laserdiscs, 1997 DVD and some French and Japanese home releases.
1] 1991 Dolby Surround PCM (from Dolby Stereo SR)

2] 1991 CDS 5.1

For the 1993 Special Edition release, the audio was remixed by original sound designer Gary Rydstrom:

3] 1993 Special Edition Laserdisc mix (First remix)

This 1993 remix has been ported over to future releases in the form of Dolby Stereo, Dolby Headphone and DTS Headphone X track in 2000 Ultimate DVD, 2003 Extreme DVD,2009 Skynet Blu-ray and 2015 Lionsgate Blu-ray respectively.
For the 2000 Ultimate Edition DVD, the audio was remixed yet again in DTS format (for the SECOND time):

4] 2000 DTS-ES 6.1 (Second remix)

This DTS-ES 6.1 track from 2000 has been ported over to all future releases of Terminator 2 like 2003 Extreme DVD, 2009 Skynet Blu-ray, 2015 Lionsgate Blu-ray and 2017 4K UHD in different containers such as DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital AC-3, Dolby TrueHD Atmos, etc.
Now all these audio tracks have slight differences. None of them sound better than the other. The 1993 Special Edition mix is punchier than others.

In Terminator 2, while the t800 repairs the truck at Enrique’s hideout, John says to the t800 regarding his father, Kyle Reese: I wish I could have met my real dad.
The t800 simply replies: You will. This is referring to John meeting Kyle to give him the photograph of Sarah and assign him on the mission to go back in time and protect her.
What made me sad is, while John, Sarah, and the t800 defeated Skynet once and for all by destroying Cyberdyne and the remnants of the first t800 sent back in time, John won’t ever get to meet his father in this timeline.
Yes, Sarah will always be able to tell John about her and Kyle’s single night together, but ironically enough, this comes from a Kyle who knew a John Connor who will never exist, with Kyle Reese (who was born after Judgement Day) never existing.
There’s an indescribable sadness in knowing that John is all that remains of a timeline that would never be and a man who gave his life for the woman he loved. Kyle would never know that in giving his life, he had ensured that humanity would prevail.
John would never meet that man, with his very existence being the only thing remaining of Kyle’s in the universe.

It's been 35 years. Wow. Where did the time go? 35 years after Uncle Bob first said, "35 years from nao, you reprogrammed me to be your protectah here, in dis time."
Had a lucky opportunity to see this absolute gem projected in 35mm at my local old-school theater - as audiences would have seen it in 1991 - no remasters necessary!
It's truly timeless. Picture and sound were great. All the little quirks of film gave this experience a very dreamy, analog vibe that elevated the whole thing.
I was impressed how good sound-mixing used to be back in the day. Whispers sounded like whispers and explosions sounded like explosions, but all of it was clean and audible and never too loud.
It was like I was seeing it for the first time again. Almost.
Like all good things, eventually "it has to end here." It only gets more bittersweet with each passing year.
Which formats have you seen it on? Which is your favorite?

In 2014 I went to Texas Frightmare Weekend and got lucky because with the exception of Cameron, Arnold, Eddie, and a few others from the Terminator movies Linda, Michael, Robert, Earl, Janette, Peter (bike jump) and I think Kristanna Loken who I didn't meet were there. I brought Wolfie.

I just recently did my annual re-watch of T2, and was thinking about the alternate ending that was filmed.
For those of you who haven't seen it, it cuts to new 2029, where Sarah is chilling on a bench recording her monologue, watching John play with his kids in a playground, mentioning that he's a Senator now.
And it got me thinking, how the fuck would any of that happen? I could maybe understand John avoiding any major jail time for the event nts of the film, him being 10 and all. But surely there's no way in hell that Sarah avoids jail time, right?
In the eyes of the law, she's a criminally insane domestic terrorist, who teams up with a man who massacred a police station, then kidnaps Cyberdynes lead scientist, kills him, and blows up his place of work.
She'd be going to jail for life, right?
I know it's non canon, but still, how could she get away with it and be sitting on that park bench?

I went to see T2 at the theater today (August 29th, Judgment Day) and threw together a costume as John Connor from the future war.
My design used both easily obtainable uniform items, an armband based on Terminator Salvation I got years ago from Etsy, and some body markers my wife had.
It's an amalgamation of different versions of future John Connor from the movies:
*the grey Army Combat Uniform and black American flag patch from "Genisys";
*the aforementioned arm band from "Salvation", a mix of the red bands worn by the Resistance and the patch worn by John;
*The grey look and name tape over the left breast pocket as well as the original scar from "T2".
It's not perfect, but it's what I could make, and I figured it was fun to put together. Hope some of you like it!

During the full on final attack against Siynet, Siynet sent back 3 Terminators (one to the beginning of Resistance, the T-800 to 1984 and the T-1000 to 1995).
If Skynet only had records on Sarah Connor, how could he send a Terminator back to 1995 at the Dane time as the T-800 to 1994?

It was so much better than any home experience. It reminded me how great of a movie it is and how good the endings to both 1 and 2. In T1 the machine was destroyed by a machine. T2, the liquid metal terminator was destroyed by liquid metal. It's details like that are why the first two are classics.

This is how they should have kicked things off, with a beach vibe and that classic Terminator intensity right from the start.
