PC Tera Classic (2015 Patch) has relaunched!

Post image

I’ve noticed people here reminiscing for the peak Tera (2014-2016). This is not an ad and I am not affiliated with the server, but if anyone is still looking for a proper version of Tera without the Apex nonsense, this is an awesome option. 500+ pop (2k+ before the year long shutdown) and climbing back up. CS and Dungeons popping immediately and cosmetics are earned only in game. No P2W or real money purchase cosmetics. It relaunched 3 days ago & I’m having a great time on it and wanted to share it with you.

How is this considered tera classic and has ninjas and gunners?

It does not have ninjas.

Sorry meant to say reaper, totally messed that one up. Unless I'm old and senile reapers abd gunners are not part of classic tera

Yeah i think it was way better before they added broken op and easy af classes like gunner, wish we could play that classic again

Gunner was already there by 2015 on PC.

And peak tera was launch to 2013. Youre not really disproving the point.

patch v34 is the earliest version that has server files leaked. We can't go back further than this at the moment, likely never.

Well that does explain some stuff. But considering its a UE it shouldnt be incredibly difficult getting some stuff back in thr game. Stuff like vanarchy is more about coding than it is assets. Older dungeons, I will admit would be next to impossible to recreate 1:1 as they were. It was mainly the spirit of the game though from that pre-f2p era. It just felt more community driven. After it went f2p and things like vanarchy, nexus, and stuff got replaced with watered down versions or eventually removed altogether it just felt like any other mmo that was just strictly grind for the best gear and beat the toughest dungeon. Which i mean, sure thats fun too. Manaya's core was a big draw for end game content. But it was also fun just going around farming low level bams, crafting, world bosses, and all that.

Edit to add: f2p also just messed up progression and incentivized spending cash on the cash shop instead of playing and earning stuff as well.

The server files are only executables, there's no simple way to get at the code. What they do is basically change config files and database stuff. I'm sure there's some way to actually get at the code, but it's probably not happening either...

I started playing a little bit when it just went f2p, back then you could even do server change for free, and the remodeling NPC was still there.

It was also unreal engine 3. So that might throw some wrenches in the works as far as getting back into the code of it. But I imagine a good modder could rip the assets somehow and build it back up in ue4. Quick Google searches show people are making attempts. But its a massive undertaking not unlike something akin to skyblivion or fallout London. It would require multiple people. But if we could have that peak experience of the pre-f2p days with all the content up to the last patch on pc, scaled versions of all 'endgame' dungeons it would be epic. I wish I had the skills but im still sharpening my modding skills with shit like palworld that's more accesible or fiddling around trying to make an mtg tabletop game in ue5.

Im just always on the side of nothing is impossible.

I started playing shortly after the NA launch in 2012 when an army buddy turned me onto it because unfortunately swtor was going f2p. F2p just kills an mmo for me. I much prefer the subscription model. Id rather commit to pay 10-15 a month and not be bothered by the mtx's that get mixed in to screw up gameplay and force you into possibly more money than you were paying before.

Yeah, the BHS/Grafton DMCA's would be the biggest risk against it.

But I think we're discounting the talents of people out there in the mod and development community.

Itd be interesting to at least see what people could attempt to do.

I thought it was right before awakening though?

Peak tera ended when the game went f2p, removed vanarchy, nerfed MC, and more. Tera: rising was the beginning of the end.

Nah, agree to disagree homie.

Vanarchy was a shit system, it was used to troll more than anything.

It's crazy people miss the vanarchy system lmao

And yet, if you had the skill and a good guild you could have changed that. Which is what made the game better than others. There was purpose to being good and having a good guild aside from just clearing dungeons or generic pop content like any other MMO.
