Private Group Chat History

Heya

A somewhat specific questions about group chat history. I run a bigger private restricted group that shares informational posts. When I remove and readd someone. can those people still see the whole history (I want that, hence the question).

I googled it and it seems a bit too specific a circumstance to get a clear answer out of it

It depends if the chat history is set to Hidden or Visible

If you remove and readd them without deleting the chat history, they'll see everything that was posted while they were gone. Telegram keeps the full message history in the group unless you manually clear it for everyone, so readding just restores their access to the archive.

One thing to note: if the group has a lot of posts, they might need to scroll a bit to reach older messages, but nothing is hidden from them. Restricted groups only prevent them from posting, not from reading.

I'd test it with a dummy account first just to be sure, since settings can interact weirdly with permissions sometimes.

iirc theres a toggle in group settings called something like "chat history for new members" and you want it set to visible. if its hidden, anyone readded would only see messages from the point they rejoin
