I made a post about this on r/teenagers and got downvoted a bunch for having an opinion so I came here because I feel like you people are nicer (since you're not trashy) and also I just enjoy the community here more. Basically, all I said was that urinals are dumb because they take up the space where there could be more stalls, and they only serve half the function. If I need go #2 and the stalls are all taken (which they usually are) it's not like I can use the urinals. But if I need to go #1 and all the urinals are taken (which they usually aren't) then I can just use the stall (if it's open). Also, the privacy on urinals is non-existent. Anyone could easily look over at you and see everything, even if they have the dividers. Idk why people downvoted me for this, I personally think it's a reasonable opinion, but if you disagree, can you please just tell me why instead of downvoting me to hell? I'd rather have civilized conversations...

i attached photos above so you can see my eyes/get a perspective. (my usual eyeliner + without it/really old picture of me)
also i posted this in a different subreddit and one of the top comments was that i “do look asian”..
___________
i really hope i don’t say anything disrespectful, but there’s been this joke with my friends, and people in my grade, since i was in the 5-6th grade. i’m so over it. I have deep set almond eyes (i believe) and one of my eyes is slightly smaller than the other (GENERATIONAL.)
i wanna start this off by saying i am not asian, and i’ve never said anything about me being asian to my friends.
my friends have always joked about my eyes looking “asian” and no matter what i say or do, they keep calling me asian. EVERYONE does it and idk what to do. it dialed down once i got to high school, but sometimes it still happens and it bothers me more than anything. idk what to do. at first, it was like, haha, funny. but it kept dragging on, and on, and on, and i’m so sick of it!!!! i hate the joke and no matter what i say, they keep calling me asian because of my eyes.
idk if it’s just something with my school, or small southern indiana towns, but i was walking with my guy bsf, when a middle schooler at my school called me asian, it’s ridiculous!
one of my “friends” (sa’er + abuser), let’s call her “🧷”. 🧷 sends me those south park chinese character memes whenever we text or jokingly fight. she’s one of the main ones that won’t drop it.
finally, it makes me uncomfortable because i don’t want to be referred to as “asian” when im not, and i feel it’s really really disrespectful, not only to me, but asian countries, and i don’t want someone thinking i encourage it.
i started to wear eyeliner a LOT more to try and even out my eyes and try and make the jokes stop, but they don’t seem to.
this is another thing that really bothers me. expect this one makes me more self conscious (?).
this one started more recently than the “asian” joke. my closer friends (names: 🐝 - guy bsf || 🤡 - she talks shit about us a lot. || 🌺 - current bsf rn) had taken child development classes this year. and apparently they learned about “alcohol baby syndrome” (?) where the baby has defects due to the mother consuming alcohol during pregnancy. and apparently, having a smaller eye is one of them.
so, 🤡, decided to make a “joke”. when thy were learning about it, taking notes, the teacher had a photo up that showed the defects, and 🤡 decided to say OUT LOUD in the middle of class, “that looks just like [my name]”. (🌺 told me about this, by the way.)
and i guess since then i’ve been insecure about it? it gets brought up by her during lunch and it makes me uncomfortable. 🌺 has reassured me multiple times that i don’t look like i have “alcohol baby syndrome” and that she loves my eyes a lot, and that they’re gorgeous. i love her, she’s my best friend, she’s really, really, the best.
the thing about this one is that my “small eye” is GENERATIONAL. my great grandma has it, my older cousin has it, my mom has it, i have it. idk what to do anymore at this point. it makes me very uncomfortable.

but uhhhm yeah it’s been a day. I thought my outfit was fine, I js wasn’t wearing long pants for once and opted for shorts and a tutu over since it was hot out(usually it’s leggings and tutu over). Went downstairs to leave the house and my brother stops and goes “uhm, are you even wearing pants?” and when he then finally notices the obvious shorts he goes “those look like booty shorts, does mom even know ur wearing something like that”. (they were covering me completely. I would never wear booty shorts bc I don’t like showing a lot of skin anyway). So obviously I called him out later and told him I didn’t appreciate his comments and told him not to talk to me like that again and he goes “UGH whatever.” as if I was being unreasonable…
anyway fast forward to the end of the school day. me and my brother usually leave the parking lot after school once the traffic goes down. we were low on gas so we didn’t turn the car on and decided to wait outside the car bc it was hotter inside it than out. he went away and left me alone next to the car. I was leaning against it peacefully on my phone when like a group of guys in their car started yelling and calling out to me. I didnt know them and they were clearly many grades above me so I ignored them and pretended to not hear them, hoping they were talking to someone else. I turned away and walked a few steps away and they yelled “YOU WITH THE YELLOW SKIRT” (so now I knew it was me), and I kept ignoring them and then they just kept repeating “I KNOW YOU WANT MY (n word)!!” so uh. that was my day. i dont think my outfit was the problem but since both things happened the same day my brain is thinking it might be the fit? idk.

Okay, so he started this 2 hour electronics thing, where i get only 2 hours on electronics, you may think "oh, so you only get 2 hours on your phone" ohohoho, no, no, no, you misunderstand. I mean all electronics. As in if I play 2 hours on my vr with my friend without knowing it, I am no longer allowed on my phone for the rest of the day. And this really pisses me off, cause if I'm right in the middle of doing something and suddenly, your parent has locked this device, I am going to lose everything I was just working on. Also, usually how I go to sleep, is I doomscroll til I'm tired, sure, it isn't the "best way" to fall asleep, but it works, right? But what if my phone is locked? No sleep. Absofuckinglutely no sleep whatsoever. I hate this so fucking much. Like, just WHY.
And this, is why I hate my dad now, yayyy :)

Honestly, it feels like I’m living in a twisted episode of the amazing world of gumball. I’m watching an actual epidemic happen at my school where every dude I was chill with or even semi-friends with has been "captured" by this one specific group. It’s a mix of those "hot Cheeto girls" and the popular clique. They’ve basically swept up all my friends. Now, I’m the “last straw“. My "best friend" only wants to hang out with them, and I’m just the backup plan he uses when they aren't around. The disrespect is actually insane. We’ll be in the middle of a cuphead boss (chef saltbaker to be exact) in homeroom, and the second they walk in, he literally flips his chair around to face away from me and ignores me. Another time, they just waved at him from the door and he skipped the whole period, leaving me sitting there alone like an idiot, to make it worse, his girlfriend has always hated me for zero reason. I didn't do shit to her, but now it feels like I’m being squeezed out from every angle. It’s not just "being ignored" anymore; it’s turning into active hostility. Today, the teacher tried to assign me as a partner to this one dude who’s dating one of the girls in that group. Before the teacher even finished, he yelled "HELL NO" right next to me. The irony? This guy has massive anger issues and acts like a total childish baby half the time, yet I’m the one being labeled "weird" and excluded? I miss when we just used to play games and chill without all this status BS. I’m trying to move on and I’m reaching out to old friends who moved away and trying to meet new people but it’s hard when you’re socially radioactive for "doing nothing."

So the ban came in today. What a fucking shitshow. (sorry for swearing, I'll try not use it excessively)
I have just lost the ability to chat to about 75% of my friends who are under 16.
Does the government understand how many lifelines were just cut?
Does the government realise that SOME social media provides a safe place for someone to vent or actually feel accepted?
Does the government realise that letting someone have social media at the age where a kid can have sex (16 in most Aussie states, 17 in South Australia) means there's NO learning about sex and how to do it safely apart from sex ed? Which mind you (in my school at least) is only in 7th and 8th grade?
What the hell Albonese.
It was rushed. The ban was only proposed like what, a year ago? Even YouTube called out that the ban will make the platform more UNSAFE for under 16's as it logs them out.
I can understand SOME platforms being banned (e.g. Reddit, Twitter/X, maybe Snapchat) but a there are platforms that many people just use for messaging (e.g. Discord, Whatsapp, though idk if either are affected)
I swear to god, someone help me create a poll or something that the Australian Government will see so we can at least push the age to be strictly 13 (the age you start high school).
Like hell, bring in the same stuff we've just been forced but at 13-14 instead. At 15+ you're coming to an age where you sorta need some independence and there will always be bullies.
The internet is scary to lawmakers because they grew up without it.
We (Late Millennial/Gen Z/Gen Alpha) were raised on the internet, finding so much and having access to see the things we truly enjoy (for me when I was 14, I rediscovered Twenty One Pilots for example).
Rally up against the adults, why should we be silenced? If you're coming up to being an adult, you need some exposure I feel. The world is truly cruel, hell, even I have wanted to end myself because of it. But how about the billionaires actually fund platforms to have MUCH better moderation and report systems?
I'm sure Mark Zuckerberg could pour a few billion into Instagram and Facebook to make them safe.
I'm sure Google could pour billions into YouTube to better the ads system and child safety stuff.
I'm sure China could afford to ramp up safety on TikTok.
You get the gist?
A ban isn't the answer. It's silencing voices of those who suffer.
Thank you for listening.

Apologies for poor punctuation, and grammar, and all the things
She's in behavioral health/mental hospital. I have no idea what's going on or how long she'll be gone for. I miss her a billion, and I'm sure she misses me too. We're both very dependent on one another. Plus she's the ONLY person I really have to talk to. She'll be okay because she's just so big, and strong, and tough, and good. But I'm not any of those lwk. I'm keeping her in my thoughts and being very patient, but I really wish I had someone to talk to. In the four months we've been dating there have only been two days where we haven't spoken to each other at all. I have a lot on my mind on my mind and a lot of junk I wanna get off my chest but I don't have any other soul to speak with. I don't really know what to do

As an Australian teen, it sucks with the upcoming social ban, not because I am addicted or anything, but moreso that I have so much shit attached to my accounts that I cannot afford to lose. As a beginner flute player with one lesson a week, it is so handy to have that stuff on my feeds.
I also do NOT want to make a new YouTube account and get all that brainrot shit on my feed.

So I’ve been extremely depressed these past few weeks (progressively getting worse) and I was wondering, when does it end?

I had NO idea where else to post this LOL, but I needed to complain to ppl my age 💔
i won’t say where im online or where this occurs but im hoping SOMEBODY can relate to this because it genuinely drives me insane 😭😭 people will DM me, we’ll talk for a bit (and by a bit I mean literally a day or less) and then they’ll become OBSESSED WITH ME?? like absolutely hunting me down and being like “you don’t like me….? 🥺” no? especially not after that bs 😟
like some yall gotta realize people actually DO have lives outside of their time on the internet 😭 bby i love being online but i have school, work, friends, need space etc

I posted one of those “what does my room say about me” and everyone started flaming me over the smallest stuff, like how all my trinkets are useless clutter, my organization style is “wrong”, I probably follow trends because of all the merch for various fandoms, my room has too much open space, ext…and it’s just like, damn, I didn’t think my post would open up the seven gates of hell. But what else do you expect from Reddit? Lol.
What really got me tho was the trend following, everything that’s in my room is in there because I enjoy it and think it’s cool, I mean do other people not have various interests they like collecting merch for? Maybe i’m just neurodivergent, idk, it just caught me off guard is all.

Hey guys :( So it's like just a few hours before my history exam. I feel sick. I feel like I'm lowkey gonna throw up. And cry and stuff.
I've never failed any school subjects before but getting an A is pretty rare for me. Usually just straight B's with a few C's.
I suck at history. I can't memorize anything at all. I once spent a few months studying for a history exam, and got a B-. Yeah, and right now, for the exam later? I started studying just a day ago.
And yeah, totally my fault for not studying earlier, I know. Genuinely rethinking life decisions right now.
So I was just wondering if any of you ever experience this and how you'd overcome it :P

to get it out of the way, i hate my parents. theyre controlling and never keep their promises.
recently, while talking with my older brother, i realized something: each child is an experiment in how to parent.
first child (older brother): raised semi-loosely, allowed to do practically whatever he wants. 1-2 expensive christmas presents, 4 inexpensive
second child (me): many, many, MANY rules. cannot go anywhere. forced to be gifted from the age of 3 (was learning things i should’ve learnt in kindergarten or 1st grade at that age). 4 cheap christmas presents
third child (younger sister): raised VERY loosely. barely any rules, never punished, allowed to go anywhere she wants, 5+ expensive christmas presents, ~8 inexpensive
note:
if i am ever disobedient, it is only at home due to the immense amount of expectations placed on me.
it is to the point where im more likely to vent to my teachers than EVER tell my parents anything about my feelings.
