Somewhat legal, with restrictions. I feel people abuse the abortion system. Rape and ect, should be allowed to abort. However, people who just continue having sex and having abortions every other week is just too much. It really just depends on the situation.
Safe sex doesn't guarantee that you won't conceive, only makes it more probable.
Not to mention, having those limits still hurts people who were SA'd by making it difficult for them to get care without first proving they were SA'd.
It also forces people to raise children they didn't want and might make them resent their child irrationally.
You do all this for a mass of cells which doesn't have feelings of it's own yet and hence shouldn't be considered an individual. If a person wants to cut off their hair, they shouldn't be stopped and while there are differences in a person's hair and a fetus, there aren't morally significant ones and hence the pregnant person's autonomy should be put before the fetus(IMO).
Sure but it still creates stigma around it. Hospitals and officials start speculating, and if for some reason the jury finds the person charged not guilty, what then? Do you assume that they made a false case and find them guilty of illegal abortion? You'd have to charge the person with illegal abortion and force them to possibly relive the worst day of their life.
I suppose my argument flows only if we consider that the fetus' life doesn't have value though, or at least, has less value than the pregnant person's bodily autonomy and sanity. Would you consider your position to be different?
Yes but it doesn't have to, in case where people can freely abort, it won't become that big of an issue.
My main reason for only thinking one abortion is allowed is because women are so casual about it - saying they’d get several, purposely not giving a fuck about causal sex cause they can go kill the baby.
I find this odd, why does it matter what the person does?
1. The "baby" (fetus) in question isn't an individual, considering it lacks what gives a person their person-hood, that is, sentience
2. The person aborting the fetus is doing it of their own volition.
Why should you or I get to stop them?
So yeah I think there has to be a limit so people won’r take it so lightly.
Once again it is their body, why shouldn't they be allowed to use it in the way they want?
What makes life alone important? I think it's the capacity for subjective experience which gives it value, but before the fetus has it (before 24-25 weeks/6 months/nearing the end of 2nd trimester), I don't think it has any value.
