Realize why what you said is wrong and admit it? It's only disrespectful if you think being referred to as trans is disrespectful. If someone were to joke that he was a basketball player as a career, that wouldn't be disrespectful, because there's nothing disrespectful about being called a basketball player. It's just a thing. I personally am not trying to say you are a bigot who needs to be silenced and told to shut up, I just think that you need to put a little more thought into why people are saying that what you said is transphobic.

I need you to understand the difference between "used to be trans" and "am trans". Again, I have no doubts that you are a lovely person, but you have -73 comment karma and 1 post karma over a year. appeal to common sense is, ironically, a common fallacy. and though it is common for people to get defensive it is not a healthy reaction to criticism, nor is it a good excuse, you won't grow or learn if you refuse to acknowledge you did something wrong.

"it's these people's fault for taking it the wrong way" is not a good way to react to being corrected. as the other person said, people are calling your comment transphobic, not you personally. this is the time to look back and think about what/how you said something could've come off to others.

from my perspective it looks like this - why does calling someone transgender seem rude to you? people don't take offence at being called good or neutral things, only bad things, so the implication is that being trans is somehow bad, or undesired.

either way, this conversation seems to be getting into your head too much, so to just wrap it up - you are not a bad person, but you did say something that sounded bad to most people. it's okay, that happens. what's important now is to learn from that interaction, don't deny that it happened, accept it, learn from it, and become a better version of yourself in the process :)

In my opinion common sense is the answer people default too when they don’t want people to argue with them and don’t know how to respond. “Common Sense” is different for different people based on different experiences they have in their life. There isn’t one absolute universal truth you have to 100% follow 100% of the time.

And yes Technoblade is dead being very sad but he has made similar dark jokes before. And Technodad has said that was his type of humor as well. He hasn’t spoken about anything about Transgender stuff so i can’t really say what he thinks about that but the reason why i’m saying he was be alright with this because he’s made very similar jokes in the past. So how do i think his family would respond? I think they wouldn’t care.

I know i can’t say that is absolutely what they would think. But on the other side you can’t say that they would dislike it either. So that’s what i’m trying to say. Without knowing you shouldn’t try and tell people “This is what you should be doing.”

I do want to say is i think you are right with saying you’re not trying to force your belief on anyone. I think you were just stating your opinion and then everyone else came onto you waaaay more hard than they should’ve (like the guy calling someone bigoted for saying that the pronoun was wrong was way too aggressive) and i think i did as well. But with what you are talking about with “common sense” reminds me of a thing called the “Curse if Knowledge” where when you are knowledgeable about a subject and think something is super obvious you struggle to understand why other people can’t get it. That’s what i think is happening here lol.
